Sony Sets Release Dates for Two Untitled Marvel Movies

After the massive success of Venom, plans for Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters (SUMC) are in full swing. The franchise will consist of multiple characters from the Spider-Man universe, with many films in various stages of development. Now, we know when two movies will be arriving.

Sony has set two release dates for untitled Marvel-based movies: July 10th, 2020 and October 2nd, 2020. The studio is keeping the titles under wraps for now, but we have some ideas on what they could be.

Morbius the Living Vampire, starring Jared Leto, is looking to start production in February. So, it’s definitely at least one of these dates, and I’m gonna guess it’s the July one.

As for October, I can easily see it being the Venom sequel. Considering the movie’s huge box office numbers, it’s easy to see Sony get a sequel out as soon as possible. Two years is plenty of time to get it out, and the October slot has already worked wonders. Might as well stick to it.

Other movies in development include solo films for Kraven the Hunter, Silver Sable, Black Cat, Jackpot, and Silk.

These two movies are the latest comic book films to join the 2020 slate. DC currently has Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) and Wonder Woman 1984 scheduled for that year, while Sony is unleashing Bloodshot. Marvel has two untitled films as well; while unconfirmed, these are expected to be Black Widow and The Eternals.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
