HARLEY QUINN/JOKER Directors Offer Script Update for "Deranged" Relationship Movie

Warner Bros. previously put several Harley Quinn-centric films into development. One of these was a film pairing her with Jared Leto's Joker, to be written and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. We haven't heard too much on this one in a while, especially with Birds of Prey being the studio's top priority. But now, the filmmakers have provided an update.

Ficarra and Requa tell Metro US that they had a lot of fun writing the Harley Quinn/Joker script, pitching it as "Bad Santa Meets This is Us." Ficarra then reveals the film's bonkers opening scene. "The whole thing starts with Harley kidnapping Dr Phil. Played by Dr Phil hopefully. Because her and the Joker are having problems with their relationship." They go on to say that the movie plays up the relationship between the two "mentally deranged" people.

So, when is the movie going to happen? Turns out Ficarra and Requa don't really know. They turned in the script and say that the studio loved it. However, with projects like Birds of Prey and Todd Phillips' Joker taking precedence, it's probably going to be a while. Also, considering how many DC movies are in development, there's no guarantee that they're all going to get made.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
