STAR WARS: Kathleen Kennedy Extends Lucasfilm Contract for 3 More Years

When Disney acquired Lucasfilm back in 2012, Kathleen Kennedy was appointed as president, after spending a few months as co-chairman alongside George Lucas. Since then, Kennedy has steered the ship on the Star Wars franchise to massive success. While some fans have had concerns about Kennedy's leadership - see Solo: A Star Wars Story's failure and the polarizing reception to The Last Jedi - she won't be going anywhere in the foreseeable future.

The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Kennedy has renewed her contract at Lucasfilm. She will remain at the company for another three years, going through 2021. With Disney and Lucasfilm planning a slowdown of Star Wars movies, what will Kennedy's leadership look like in the future?

Sources tell THR that Episode IX will definitely be the last "chapter" in the Skywalker saga, and that will be a key selling point in the marketing campaign. While the future of the anthology films is unclear, Rian Johnson's trilogy and …

Fox Delays DARK PHOENIX Again, Sets DEADPOOL 2 PG-13 Cut for This Christmas

Despite releasing the long-awaited teaser trailer (touting its Valentines Day 2019 date) less than two days ago, 20th Century Fox has once again delayed the next X-Men movie, Dark Phoenix.

The film will now hit theaters on June 7th, 2019. This puts it right in the heart of the summer, which - based on the competition - may not be the wisest bet. But, Fox is hoping that the move will lead to the film being a bigger hit in China. No exact reason was given for the delay beyond that, but the movie has been undergoing reshoots, which are said to be extensive. So, this gives them extra time to do that.

This is just the first of several new changes on Fox's schedule. Hang tight....

An "Untitled Deadpool Movie" has been scheduled for December 21st, 2018. Yes, this year. Apparently, this is a PG-13 version of Deadpool 2. How and why they're doing this is unclear. This date is also reserved by Aquaman, Bumblebee, and Holmes & Watson.Previously scheduled for the December 21…

WONDER WOMAN 1984 Rumor: Pedro Pascal is Playing....

Pedro Pascal is one of several exciting additions to the cast of DC's Wonder Woman 1984, but his character has been under wraps from the beginning. We saw the one picture of him in the movie, but that's about it. While we wait on official word, a new rumor (courtesy of our friends at SuperBroMovies) may finally give us the answer.

Apparently, Pedro Pascal is playing none other than......

Maxwell Lord!

Maxwell Lord is a prominent villain in DC Comics, but as usual, expect some differences for the movie. For example, he won't have his psychic powers, while this version is said to be hammier and "more liberal." One iconic moment saw Wonder Woman snap Lord's neck during Infinite Crisis. We don't know if we'll see that in the movie, but could you imagine?

SuperBroMovies also has some details on Lord's arc in the movie, but for the sake of spoilers, we won't go over them here. Head over to the source link below if you want to read them.

While Lord p…

DARK PHOENIX Trailer Teases the X-Men's Darkest Hour Yet

The marketing campaign for 20th Century Fox's final (?) installment of the main X-Men saga, Dark Phoenix, is finally getting started. We saw the gorgeous motion poster earlier, and now, the trailer has been released via The Late Late Show with James Corden.

The trailer teases a dark installment of the franchise, as the X-Men are forced to fight their teammate Jean Grey, now consumed by Phoenix. Along the way, the X-Men will meet aliens, including Jessica Chastain's mysterious character. Check out the trailer below, and stay tuned for more as we have it.

Dark Phoenix is scheduled to hit theaters on February 14th, 2019. The 12th installment of the X-Men series stars Sophie Turner, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain. Simon Kinberg writes and directs.

Arrowverse Crossover Gets a Title, Adds The Monitor

A lot of details on this year's Arrowverse crossover are being kept under wraps. The three-episode event will feature Batwoman, Superman, Lois Lane, Nora Fries, and more characters. We will also be visiting Gotham City and Arkham Asylum. Now, we know what the title is, while a key DC character has been cast.
This year's crossover event is titled "Elseworlds." Any diehard DC Comics fan will immediately identify that name. Traditionally, Elseworlds was the name of a banner for non-canon stories by DC. These include Gotham by Gaslight, Superman: Red Son, and Kingdom Come. It's unclear exactly what that means for the Arrowverse, but it's an indication that this crossover will be bigger than expected.

Additionally, we have casting for an interesting character from DC lore. LaMonica Garrett (Sons of Anarchy) has been cast as Mar Novu, an extraterrestrial being of infinite power known as The Monitor. In the comics, Monitor has near-infinite knowledge of the Multive…

BIRDS OF PREY Casts Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary

We've heard a lot of casting stories for DC's Birds of Prey movie, which will see Harley Quinn team up with a gang of female characters in the DC Universe. Many actresses have been tested for the ensemble, and now, two key characters have been cast.

Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane) is set to play The Huntress, while Jurnee Smolett-Bell (Underground) has been cast as Black Canary. While the two characters have been portrayed in live action before, most notably on Arrow, this will serve as their debut in a movie. Still to be cast are Renee Montoya, Cassandra Cain, and the villain, who is most likely Black Mask.
Speaking of Black Mask, Variety's Justin Kroll says that Warner Bros. has begun to meet with actors for the villainous role. Apparently, the studio is interested in Ewan McGregor (Star Wars) and Sharlto Copley (District 9), but since meetings have just started, neither are a certainty.
Also: Deadline's report says Birds of Prey takes place in a Gotham…

HELLBOY Reboot Pushed Back to Spring 2019

Fans have been wondering when we'd get a first look at the new Hellboy movie, which had been scheduled to come out in January. Since we're so close to that release date, why hasn't marketing begun yet? Turns out, it's not coming out in January anymore.

Originally set for January 11th, Hellboy will now hit theaters on April 12th, 2019. No reason was given for the three-month delay, but this will allow more time for an effective marketing campaign. This also puts the film one week after DC's Shazam! and a few weeks before Marvel's Avengers 4. Hopefully, it won't have any trouble keeping legs in between.

Hellboy will be at New York Comic-Con next month, so hopefully, we'll get a first look there. Stay tuned for more as we have it.

TV News Bits: DC with a Touch of Marvel

Welcome back to the latest round of TV News Bits. This installment is mostly DC-centric, but we have a good update for a hit Marvel Netflix series too.

HBO's Watchmen series has recruited Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross to compose the score. The two have worked together for a few years now, including their collaborations with director David Fincher. They are the current members of the rock band Nine Inch Nails, which was founded by Reznor. Watchmen will premiere sometime next year on HBO. (Source: Variety)In a new interview, Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb shares a lot of updates, including the future of The Defenders. Despite being pitched as a one-off and a second season unconfirmed, Loeb says it's not completely off the table. "It doesn’t mean that it’s off the table. And it doesn’t mean that it even has to be with the original characters that were in the first Defenders." So, the story of the original Defenders is done, but the door is open to create a new lineup under th…

BIRDS OF PREY Movie Sets 2020 Release Date

Margot Robbie's Birds of Prey movie has been the next DC title to head towards production. The film will see Harley Quinn team up with a slew of female characters from the DC Universe. And sure enough, the ensemble is next up on the slate, as Warner Bros. has confirmed its release date.

The (currently untitled) movie is set to hit theaters on February 7th, 2020. Originally, WB set an untitled DC film for February 14th of that year. However, that date was recently taken by James Bond 25, so the studio has moved it up one week and given the date to Birds of Prey.

The film is set to begin production in January. Casting is currently underway for the roles of Black Canary, Huntress, Renee Montoya, and Cassandra Cain. Actresses such as Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Gugu Mbatha-Raw are said to be in contention for the movie.

Birds of Prey is expected to be the first of several DC films to hit theaters in 2020. The Flashis finally on track to begin shooting next year, while director Matt Re…

FEATURE: Five More Marvel Studios Shows We Want to See on Disney Play

Recently, it was revealed that Marvel Studios is developing shows for Disney Play, the studio's forthcoming streaming service. The shows will center around Loki, Scarlet Witch, and other popular supporting characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They will bring back actors from the movies, but don't expect major heroes like Iron Man or Captain America to show up.

Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg. The MCU has plenty of supporting characters who could be given the spotlight, and Disney Play is serving as a good avenue to do that. Below, we list five shows that we want to see.

I'm going to get the most obvious one out of the way. Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton has always had the reputation of being "everyone's least favorite Avenger." With the main four getting their own movies and Black Widow on the way, Hawkeye is the only original Avenger without a solo project. Fortunately, they can remedy that with a Disney Play miniseries. Wheth…

HBO Orders WATCHMEN to Series, Sets 2019 Premiere

After years in development, HBO's Watchmen pilot finally went into production a few months ago. Now, we know when the pilot - and the rest of the season - will premiere.

HBO has confirmed that Watchmen has been given a full series order. It will premiere sometime in 2019. No word on an episode count yet. In addition, the network released a plot logline from the series.

Set in an alternate history where “superheroes" are treated as outlaws, Watchmen embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.

Showrunner Damon Lindelof previously described Watchmen as an original "remix" of the source material. It's not another direct adaptation; rather, it's an original story that will be set after the comic. So, it's basically a sequel, but they're not calling it that.
Nothing ever ends. — HBO (@HBO) August 17, 2018

KINGSMAN 3 Gets a Release Date

Following the first two Kingsman movies, director Matthew Vaughn confirmed that he would return for a third film, while two spinoff movies and a television show are in development.

Now, we know when the trilogy's final installment will hit theaters.

20th Century Fox has set a release date of November 8th, 2019 for Kingsman 3. This was the original release date for Bond 25, which recently moved to Valentines Day 2020. It's also one week after DC's Wonder Woman 1984. Vaughn is returning as both writer and director for the threequel.

Kingsman 3 will conclude the Eggsy-Harry story arc that has been at the heart of the trilogy. The franchise will later expand with a prequel set in the 1900s, as well as a Statesman spinoff.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it.

HARLEY QUINN/JOKER Directors Offer Script Update for "Deranged" Relationship Movie

Warner Bros. previously put several Harley Quinn-centric films into development. One of these was a film pairing her with Jared Leto's Joker, to be written and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. We haven't heard too much on this one in a while, especially with Birds of Prey being the studio's top priority. But now, the filmmakers have provided an update.

Ficarra and Requa tell Metro US that they had a lot of fun writing the Harley Quinn/Joker script, pitching it as "Bad Santa Meets This is Us." Ficarra then reveals the film's bonkers opening scene. "The whole thing starts with Harley kidnapping Dr Phil. Played by Dr Phil hopefully. Because her and the Joker are having problems with their relationship." They go on to say that the movie plays up the relationship between the two "mentally deranged" people.
So, when is the movie going to happen? Turns out Ficarra and Requa don't really know. They turned in the script and say that t…

Marvel's THE ETERNALS Recruits Director Chloe Zhao

The Eternals is one of several Marvel Studios movies in development, making up its post-Avengers 4 future. The film previously got a pair of screenwriters, and now, a director has been brought on board.

Filmmaker Chloe Zhao (The Rider) has signed on to direct The Eternals. Other contenders for the job included Nicole Kassell (HBO's Watchmen), Travis Knight (Bumblebee), and Cristina Gallego & Ciro Guerra (Birds of Passage). Zhao was also up for directing Marvel's Black Widow, before Cate Shortland got the gig.

Zhao will be directing from a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. The film will reportedly consist of a love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans. It is intended to be Marvel's next big cosmic franchise.

Zhao is the most recent female director to take on a major comic book movie. Marvel has been making this push with films like Captain Marvel and Black Widow, while DC has hired female directors for Birds …

TV Casting: DC Universe Casts STARGIRL, Arrowverse Crossover Finds its Villain

We have a couple of big DC TV casting updates. DC Universe has found the titular hero of its next original series, while this year's Arrowverse crossover now has a villain.

The Goldbergs actress Brec Bassinger is set to star as Courtney Whitmore in Stargirl, a new show on DC Universe. The series revolves around Whitmore, a high school sophomore who is adjusting to a new school in Blue Valley, Nebraska. Along the way, she discovers that her stepfather used to be a superhero's sidekick, and with a cosmic staff, she will inspire a new generation of heroes.

Producer Geoff Johns had this to say about the casting. "There is no other character in comic books more special to me than Stargirl, and after searching far and wide I can say there is no other actor on the planet that embodies her more than Brec Bassinger. Brec’s warmth, strength, humor and positive energy are core to who Courtney Whitmore is. I’m so grateful she’s signed on for the role."

Stargirl is expected to beg…

BIRDS OF PREY Testing Multiple Actresses for Lead Roles

DC Films' Birds of Prey will see Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn form a gang of major female characters, such as Black Canary, Huntress, Renee Montoya, and Cassandra Cain. We've heard plenty of casting rumors over the past few months, and now, we have a refined shortlist, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter.

Gugu Mbatha-Raw (A Wrinkle in Time), Jurnee Smolett-Bell (Underground), and Janelle Monáe (Hidden Figures) are in contention to play Black Canary. This confirms a past rumor that Warner Bros. is looking to cast a woman of color as the traditionally white hero.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane), Margaret Qualley (The Nice Guys), and Cristin Milioti (Black Mirror) have all either tested or read for the role of The Huntress.Justina Machado (Jane the Virgin) and Roberta Colindrez (I Love Dick) have tested for the role of Renee Montoya.WB is looking to cast an Asian actress as Cassandra Cain, who will be a 12-year-old in this movie. Disney CEO Confirms "Slowdown" on STAR WARS Movie Releases

When Disney first acquired Lucasfilm in 2012, the studio made plans to release a Star Wars movie every year, beginning in 2015. However, that plan has led to concerns of franchise fatigue, and it has manifested in the lackluster performance of this year's Solo: A Star Wars Story. Since then, Lucasfilm has been mum on future franchise plans, but now we have a hint of what's to come...or when, more accurately.

Disney CEO Bob Iger confirms to The Hollywood Reporter that there will be a "slowdown" for releasing future Star Wars movies. While the studio will absolutely keep making these movies, there will be more caution about when they will be released. "I made the timing decision, and as I look back, I think the mistake that I made - I take the blame - was a little too much, too fast. You can expect some slowdown, but that doesn't mean we're not going to make films. J.J. [Abrams] is busy making [Episode] IX. We have creative entities, including [Game of Th…

ABC Moving Forward with Marvel Show About Female Superheroes from WONDER WOMAN Writer

Marvel TV has been growing bigger and bigger every year, but it originally began on ABC with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. in 2013. Since then, the two have collaborated on Agent Carter and Inhumans, which were both short-lived, while Freeform has Cloak and Dagger. But ABC has talked about bringing in a new Marvel series soon, specifically with a female lead. And now, it's moving forward.

Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg is developing an untitled Marvel series for ABC, which has given it a production commitment. The show is about female superheroes in the Marvel Universe, and it is expected to focus on lesser-known characters. No word on who exactly those characters are, but the sky's the limit. In addition to writing, Heinberg is producing with Marvel TV's Jeph Loeb.

This move comes as Marvel is increasing its lineup of female-led properties, both on film and television. Netflix's Jessica Joneshas been a big hit, while a Scarlet Witchseries is in the works at Disney Play. …

AMC Plans to Expand THE WALKING DEAD Universe with Movies and More TV Shows

AMC's cornerstone series, The Walking Dead, is getting ready enter its ninth season, which will say goodbye to lead man Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). Meanwhile, spinoff series Fear the Walking Dead is nearing the end of its fourth season, with season five on the way. AMC has been vocal about continuing this franchise for at least the next decade, and now, we have word on how the network is planning to do that.

A new report by Bloombergreveals that AMC is planning multiple new TV shows, as well as movies, set in The Walking Dead universe. The networks wants to have a partner (maybe a streaming service?) to create several movies that could spin off into new shows. At least one series will take place in another country. Scott Gimple, chief creative officer of the current two shows, will oversee development.

This move comes as AMC wants to continue pushing its biggest series, which has consistently ranked as one of the highest-rated shows and has spawned a hit talk show, Talking Dead

Bryan Singer in Talks to Direct New RED SONJA Movie

Filmmaker Bryan Singer's public image has been tarnished in recent years, following multiple sexual assault allegations and being fired from Bohemian Rhapsody. Despite this, Singer is trying to make a comeback, and he is lining up his next high-profile project.

Singer is in talks to direct Red Sonja, Millennium's new movie starring the comic book heroine. The studio intends to pay Singer "top dollar" for the gig and is (unfortunately) unconcerned with the director's allegations. X-Men: First Class scribe Ashley Miller is writing the script.

Red Sonja was created in the 1970s, as a Conan the Barbarian spinoff. She previously got her own movie in 1985, where she was played by Brigitte Nielsen. A reboot has been in development for years, and this is the latest push towards development.

Singer has a history with comic book adaptations, being one of the main creative forces of the X-Men franchise. He directed the first film, X2, Days of Future Past, and Apocalypse, a…

Marvel Shows Starring Loki, Scarlet Witch and More in Development at Disney Play

Disney has been making some big moves for its streaming service, now titled Disney Play. A live action Star Wars show is in the works, while the platform is bringing back The Clone Warsfor another season. Now, we know about Disney Play's plans for Marvel, and they're pretty big.

According to Variety, Marvel Studios is developing a slate of limited series starring popular characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Loki and Scarlet Witch are among the characters who will get their own shows. These will also bring back the original actors, so Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen will reprise their roles. Each series will run for 6-8 episodes, while they are expected to have big budgets.

Marvel has been expanding the MCU on television before, with shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Netflix slate. But while those shows fall under Jeph Loeb's Marvel TV banner, the Disney Play shows will be directly developed by Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige. Also, these shows will foc…

Killmonger is Getting His Own Prequel Comic From Bryan Edward Hill

I am Killmonger No one's perfect But no one's worthless We ain't deserving of everything Heaven and Earth is But word is, good - Paramedic!, Kendrick Lamar feat. SOB X RBE
When Black Panther hit theaters last February, audiences werecaptivated by the man, the myth, the legend, Michael B. Jordan Erik Killmonger.

Killmonger was a hit with viewers because his moral center and ideals challenged the hero in a direct way. He was wrong when he was right, just when he was unjust, and flawed where he had been failed, and Jordan sold that arc with genuine gravitas and pathos (if it sounds like I'm stanning for that Oscars campaign, you're darn right).

So it's with great excitement that Marvel announced a new prequel comic series written by Bryan Edward Hill, with art by Juan Ferreyra. The 4 issue series is set to drop this December. Hill is a rising star in the writing world, having written for Marvel, DC, and Top Cow, and most recently on Ash vs Evil Dead and the upcoming Ti…

Live-Action Avatar: The Last Airbender Reboot In The Works At Netflix

A live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series is in the works at Netflix with the original series creators involved.

After the massive disappointment that was 2010's The Last Airbender, it seemed like it would only be a pipe dream (or really a total and utter nightmare) that we would get a sequel let alone a franchise. Fans of the hit Nickelodeon cartoon from the mid-2000s have been clamoring for a more accurate live-action take on the source material, and now it looks like they will finally get their wish.

Netflix has announced that a live-action series is in development. Deadline reports that the new series will be made in partnership with Nickelodeon and that original series creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko will be both executive producing the series and serving as showrunners.

Are you excited for a new live-action Avatar: The Last Airbender series on Netflix? Or do you think that they should just let the property be? Let us know in the comments below or tweet …

CAPTAIN MARVEL Goes Higher, Faster, Further in First Official Trailer and Teaser Poster

All rise for the Cap.

Carol Danvers has made her splash in the first official trailer for Captain Marvel, the latest entry in the MCU. The trailer gives us our first good look at the plot, characters, and "Blockbuster" 90's setting. From the look of things, directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck are going for a retro throwback, comic accurate look that should excite as we gear up for Avengers 4.

Marvel also released a teaser poster for the film, depicting Carol in full uniform.

Captain Marvel flies into theaters March 8th, 2019, and stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Algenis Perez Soto, Rune Temte, Mckenna Grace, Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

Rumored SUICIDE SQUAD 2 Plot Details Tease New Tone and Setting

Despite being a major financial success in 2016, Warner Bros. has taken its time with making a sequel to Suicide Squad. The film was originally set to begin production this fall, before being pushed back to accommodate the cast's busy schedules. Then, it was delayed even more when WB prioritized Birds of Prey, starring Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn, which will begin production early next year. But, it looks like we have some new details.

Our friends at SuperBroMovies shared some intel from @DanielRPK on Suicide Squad 2. Apparently, director Gavin O'Conner and team want to tell a grounded, black ops-style story, which could be rated R. The team is doing this to differentiate from the first film. Also, the sequel will reportedly spend a lot of time in the Middle East. While they originally wanted to introduce Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam here, the character has since been written out, due to Johnson's schedule. Thus, another "notable" DC character will appea…

VENOM: An Interview with the Director

In a couple of weeks, Venom enters the theater screens. People seem to be quite mixed about it, mostly because of the lack of Spider-Man. I’m looking forward to this, and happy about no Spider-Man (as far as we know right now)  but that’s a post for another time.

If you hunger for more information, I have some good news for you. Fandango recently interviewed the movie's director.

He talked about an aspect that makes me very excited about the film. In case, you did not know, one of the major influence. They approach the movie as a werewolf movie. How the movie An American Werewolf in London was an inspiration together with directors David Cronenberg and John Carpenter.

If you wonder what comic book they looked at, look no further then The Lethal Protector. For you that are unaware of that comic book, it was a story line that ran from February 1993 to July 1993, written by David Micheline. It showed how Venom progressed from a pure villain to an Anti-Hero.

He also mentions, for thos…

SUPERGIRL: Potential Story Details, Villain

No matter your thoughts about the potential for a Supergirl movie, it clearly is going to happen by the looks of it. While we have no idea who’s playing her, we might have some story nuggets.

According to Superbromovies' DanielRPK, the movies appear to go half/half. According to him, the movie is going to spend a good chunk of it on Krypton and a good chunk on earth, with the time period being the 1970s. The villain? That’s apparently going to be Brainiac.

What do you think about this? Comment below and let us know, or let us know on any social media site, @WOBAMEnt.

First Official Look at Joaquin Phoenix as the Future JOKER

Warner Bros. has begun production on its Joker movie, which stars Joaquin Phoenix as the future villain in a new origin story. While we wait for a press release announcing the start of filming, we have a first-look photo from the movie.

Director Todd Phillips shared a first look at Phoenix's character, named Arthur Fleck. Fleck is clearly lacking the Joker's signature makeup and green hair, but that's kind of the point. The movie will be a character study that examines Fleck's descent into madness, and it is expected to be extremely different from past Jokers.

Check it out below, and stay tuned for more as we have it.

Opinion: The POKEMON Anime Needs a Reboot and Ash Should Retire

No, I don’t think they should stop doing a Pokémon anime or movies for that matter. The series is such a big cash cow that I can’t blame The Pokémon Company for keep on doing this. But Ash is a character that has met his “best before date” years ago.

I’ve had this feeling for years, but it got abundantly clear when I watched a movie called Pokémon: Clash of Ages. It’s a movie that starts off fairly strong but loses its focus faster than a speeding bullet as soon as Ash and his friends get into the picture.

How are they introduced you might ask? They happen to be in a random hotel and get randomly involved. It was pretty clear that they were only there because of fan service. I can't understand how they force themselves into putting themselves into a corner. Yes, Pokémon isn’t Shakespeare, but that doesn’t mean that you couldn't do some interesting when you talk about storytelling.

So what would I do instead? The same thing that The Pokémon Company does with the games. Make th…

Arrowverse's Batwoman Crossover Casts Cassandra Jean Amell as Nora Fries

This year's Arrowverse crossover event is a big one, despite not involving Legends of Tomorrow. The event introduces Batwoman and Lois Lane to the universe, while Superman is returning. Now, The CW has announced another key addition.

Cassandra Jean Amell - aka the real-life wife of Arrow star Stephen Amell - is set to play Nora Fries in the crossover. Fries is the wife of Batman villain Victor Fries, aka Mr. Freeze. However, don't expect the cool villain to show up and break the ice in the event. Amell's past credits include America's Next Top Model, Mad Men, and more.

Nora's exact role in the crossover is being kept under wraps. But traditionally, Nora is terminally ill and is being kept alive in a cryogenic chamber. Victor's determination to cure his wife ultimately leads to him becoming the villain Mr. Freeze.

While Nora has become part of comic book canon, she was originally created for Batman: The Animated Series. She also appeared in Batman & Robin,
