HBO’s WATCHMEN Pilot Casts Jeremy Irons in Lead Role

HBO’s Watchmen pilot is currently undergoing production, after years in development. Showrunner Damon Lindelof explained that the series, which stars Regina King and others, will not be another straight-up adaptation of the comic; rather, it’s a contemporary follow-up of sorts. Now, we have another major cast member.

According to Deadline, legendary actor Jeremy Irons is taking on a lead role in the Watchmen pilot. Specific details on his character are unknown, beyond the fact that he’s an “aging and imperious” lord of a British manor.

This marks Irons’ second foray into DC territory. He previously played Alfred Pennyworth in DC Films’ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. He has also been expected to reprise the role in The Batman, but with conflicting rumors of that film’s place in DC’s universe, it’s not a sure thing yet.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
