TV News Bits: LEGION, RIVERDALE, THE BOYS, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW, TITANS

Welcome to the latest installment of TV News Bits. Today, we have good news on Legion, two new regulars on Riverdale, a director for The Boys, hints at Constantine’s new role on Legends of Tomorrow, and confirmation of a character on Titans.

While we’re still waiting on a renewal for Legion, fans are still getting a little more from the acclaimed FX season. Marvel has announced that an additional episode has been ordered for the show’s second season, bringing its total to 11 episodes. By comparison, the first season ran for 8 episodes.

The Legion season finale will air on Wednesday, June 12th at 10 PM EST. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait much longer to see if FX will renew it for a third season.

Like every other CW show, Riverdale has been renewed for next fall. While we’re still weeks away from the season two finale, we have news of two fan-favorite characters being promoted to regulars for season three.
It has been announced (via TV Line) that actors Vanessa Morgan and Charles Melton will be regulars for Riverdale‘s third season. Morgan plays Toni, Cheryl’s girlfriend, while Melton plays Reggie, who was played by Ross Butler in the first season but was later recast.
Both Toni and Reggie have been fan-favorite characters, so fans should be happy to hear this news. Stay tuned for more.

Next, Amazon’s comic book adaptation The Boys has found a director for its pilot. According to Variety, 10 Cloverfield Lane‘s Dan Trachtenberg is directing the show’s first episode, which is expected to premiere next year.

The Boys takes place in a world where superheroes are more reckless with their celebrity status, and a group known as “the boys” want to take some of them down. The cast includes Karl Urban, Chace Crawford, Jessie T. Usher, Antony Starr, Nathan Mitchell, Dominique McElligott, Erin Moriarty, Jack Quaid, and Karen Fukuhara.

Following a recurring role last season, John Constantine will be a series regular on Legends of Tomorrow in season four. But does that mean he’ll actually live on the Waverider alongside the rest of the team? Maybe not…

Showrunner Phil Klemmer tells TV Line that fitting Constantine into the Waverider crew may not be as easy as fans would expect. “I don’t know if I want to see John Constantine actually having to live on the ship, because he seems a little cooler than that. I like the idea that he’s a bit of a lone wolf, so we’ll have to figure out where exactly he’s going to live. Like, what would his room even look like? I think he’s a bit too cool for school [to live on the Waverider], in a good way.”

Legends of Tomorrow will return sometime in the fall on The CW.

One character who has been rumored for DC’s Titans is Donna Troy, aka Wonder Girl. Well, it looks like we have confirmation, as TitansTV has shared new episode titles from the series. Among those titles is “Donna Troy.” The site has also learned that actress Conor Leslie has joined the show, possibly as Troy, but there’s no official confirmation on that yet.

This news comes after rumors of Troy’s involvement came up late last year. She is also the latest fan-favorite character to join the show, following the Doom Patrol, Jason Todd, and others.

Titans premieres sometime this year on DC Universe.
