[Spoiler] Exits ARROW as Series Regular

This week saw the return of Arrow from its final hiatus of the season. This episode sees Oliver Queen and the team face off against the Thanatos Guild, which consists of former League of Assassins members who follow the late Malcolm Merlyn.

Meanwhile, Nyssa al Ghul returns, while Dinah and Curtis continue to investigate the Star City Police Department (SCPD). The episode had some very interesting plot twists and character development.

As the episode continued current plot threads and setting up new ones, Arrow bids farewell to a longtime character, who has formally left the show as a series regular. While some may have predicted the exit, it will surely serve as a disappointment to others.

[The Following Contains SPOILERS From Arrow Season 6 Episode 16, "The Thanatos Guild."]
So, in this week's Arrow, Thea Queen left Star City. Actress Willa Holland will no longer be a series regular on the show. In her conflict with the Thanatos Guild, Thea discovers the existence of th…

Sara Lance to Appear in ARROW Season 6 Finale

We have less than two months until the end of Arrow's sixth season. While we wait on an official renewal for next season, we have news about an exciting guest star for the finale.

According to Collider, Caity Lotz' Sara Lance will pop up in the Arrow season six finale. No details on her role beyond that are known, but fans are already speculating that it'll have something to do with the Black Siren storyline. This season, Quentin is trying to redeem Earth-2 Laurel, following the death of the Earth-1 version. It'd make so much sense to bring in the other Lance sister sooner or later.

Of course, Sara has had a lengthy history with Arrow. Originally debuting in season two as the Canary, Sara was an ally to Oliver Queen and his team until her death in season three. She was later resurrected in season four, and she went on to join spinoff series Legends of Tomorrow, where she is now the captain of the Waverider crew.

Arrow's season six finale airs on Thursday, May 17th …

Pedro Pascal Joins WONDER WOMAN 2 Cast

Casting is well underway for Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman sequel, which sees the return of director Patty Jenkins and star Gal Gadot. Kristen Wigg will play the villain Cheetah, while several characters from the first film are rumored to be back. Now, we have another addition.

According to Variety, Narcos and Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal has landed a key role in Wonder Woman 2. His exact character is currently unknown. In addition to his television work, Pascal has appeared in films such as Kingsman: The Golden Circle. (Fun fact: Pascal also appeared in NBC's scrapped Wonder Woman pilot in 2011.)

Production on Wonder Woman 2 is expected to begin in May, so stay tuned for more casting news as we have it.

Wonder Woman 2 hits theaters on November 1st, 2019.

Krypton Series Premiere Review

Set two generations before the destruction of Superman’s home planet, KRYPTON follows Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe), the legendary Man of Steel’s grandfather - whose House of El was ostracized and shamed. With Krypton’s leadership in disarray, Seg-El encounters Earthly time-traveler Adam Strange (Shaun Sipos) who warns he’s under the clock to save his beloved world from chaos. Fighting to redeem his family’s honor and protect the ones he loves, Seg is also faced with a life and death conflict – save his home planet or let it be destroyed in order to restore the fate of his future grandson.
Hello everyone! It's little old me, and I'm here to talk about the series premiere of Krypton! This is a spoiler-free review, so feel free to read below with no fear!
First I'd like to talk about the visuals. We don't get to see a whole lot of the planet Krypton in any tv/movie setting. So there isn't really a basis to go off of, except from what is in the comics. That gave the team beh…

Reshoots Led to X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX and NEW MUTANTS Delays

This week, Fox made the surprise announcement that two X-Men centric films have been pushed back. Dark Phoenix, which was scheduled for this fall, will now release on Valentines Day 2019. Meanwhile, The New Mutants (which was already delayed 10 months) was moved to August 2nd, 2019. Naturally, this led to fans speculating as to why these delays were made. Now, we have an answer.

According to Collider, Fox delayed Dark Phoenix to allow more time for reshoots and post-production. Following a test screening, it was decided that the film should undergo additional filming. However, the reshoots won't happen until August or September, due to the cast's schedules. (For example, Sophie Turner is shooting the last season of Game of Thrones this year.) So, the studio decided to push back the film a few months to give everyone more time.

The Hollywood Reporteradds that the third act specifically needs reworking, thus the reshoots. The additional filming is expected to cost less than $10 mi…

X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX Pushed Back to 2019, NEW MUTANTS Delayed Again

20th Century Fox has updated its release schedule, and in the shakeup, two X-Men films have been pushed back.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which was originally slated for a November 2nd release this year, will now hit theaters on February 14th, 2019. No reason was given for the delay. However, director Simon Kinberg previously said that he wanted plenty of post-production time to fully realize the CGI, so that may have influenced the move.

Additionally, The New Mutants has gotten another delay. The film was infamously pushed back from its April 13th release to February 22nd, 2019. Well, it's now scheduled to arrive on August 2nd, 2019. The movie is expected to undergo reshoots (which will add a new character), so this delay will give more time to pull that off.

Originally, both of these films, along with Deadpool 2, were scheduled to release this year, giving Fox three Marvel-based films in one year. However, we just have Deadpool 2 to deal with this year. The other two join Gambit, which is…

THE DEATH OF SUPERMAN Voice Cast Announced

CAPTAIN MARVEL Officially Begins Production; Phil Coulson and Ronan the Accuser to Appear

Today, Marvel Studios announced the start of production on its next blockbuster, Captain Marvel. The press release confirmed a slew of details, such as filming locations. But most importantly, we have the full cast, which reveals the returns of several MCU characters.

First up, Clark Gregg is returning as Phil Coulson. Of course, Coulson was a key recurring character in Marvel's first phase, ending with his death in The Avengers. He was later resurrected for ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is now in its fifth season. The modern day Avengers still believe Coulson to be dead, but with Captain Marvel set in the 1990s, it makes more sense to have him running around there.

Additionally, Lee Pace and Djimon Hounsou are reprising their roles as Ronan the Accuser and Korath, respectively, from Guardians of the Galaxy. Captain Marvel will feature the Kree alien race, so it makes sense for younger versions of Ronan and Korath to pop up.

The rest of the film's cast includes Brie Lar…

DEADPOOL Animated Series Loses FX and Donald Glover

Last year, it was announced that FX and Marvel Television were teaming up to create an adult animated series starring Deadpool. Donald and Stephen Glover came on board as showrunners for the 10-episode series, which was scheduled to launch this year on FXX. Unfortunately, that's no longer happening.

FX has announced today (via The Hollywood Reporter) that the network and the Glovers are no longer attached to Deadpool. Here is the network's statement. "Due to creative differences, FX, Donald Glover, Stephen Glover and Marvel Television have agreed to part ways on Marvel's Deadpool animated series. FX will no longer be involved with the project. FX and Marvel have an ongoing relationship through our partnership on Legion, which will continue."

Right now, it's unclear if Marvel TV will move Deadpool to another network and creative team, or just cancel it completely. Either way, this is surely disappointing news for fans of the Merc With A Mouth. But at least we…

BLACK PANTHER Becomes the Biggest Superhero Movie of All Time in North America

Marvel Studios' Black Panther has become an absolute sensation, breaking record after record at the box office. Today, it has taken a new throne.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Black Panther has today surpassed The Avengers ($623.4 million) as the highest grossing superhero film of all time in North America. It is also one of just seven films to ever pass $600 million domestically. T'Challa's movie was always expected to be a hit, but moreso than Earth's Mightiest Heroes? Who could have predicted that?

To date, Black Panther is at $1.2 billion worldwide, and it will pass Iron Man 3 this weekend. After that, it'll be the third highest grossing superhero movie worldwide, behind just the two Avengers films. This weekend, the film will take the #2 spot after a whopping five weeks at #1. Pacific Rim: Uprising will take over.

Stay tuned for more updates as we have them.

THOR: RAGNAROK's Tessa Thompson Reuniting with Chris Hemsworth in MEN IN BLACK Spinoff

Casting is currently underway on Sony's Men in Black spinoff, which will expand the franchise beyond the Will Smith trilogy. Chris Hemsworth is in talks to star, with F. Gary Gray attached to direct. Now, the film has found its female lead.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Tessa Thompson will star in the new Men in Black. She previously starred with Hemsworth in last year's Thor: Ragnarok, where she plays Valkyrie. The site adds that Hemsworth's deal isn't close just yet, but it is expected to soon. The film will have more of an ensemble cast, as opposed to the two leads in the trilogy. It will also have a more global scope.

With the future of the Thor franchise unknown, this serves as a nice reunion for Hemsworth and Thompson. It also marks the beginning of an all-star cast, making the new movie one to watch out for. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.

The Men in Black spinoff will hit theaters on June 14th, 2019.

Did Bots Inflate the JUSTICE LEAGUE Audience Score?

Ahhhh, Rotten Tomatoes! That infamous aggregator that can sink a film or ensure one's success with a flick of the Tomatometer. Much has been said about Justice League's Tomatometer score, and some have even theorized that the film's audience score may have been artificially inflated the same way The Last Jedi was accused of having its score artificially deflated. However, for the first time there is empirical evidence that this is not the case, and that the cause for the review disparity runs far deeper.

Prominent YouTube personality MatPat, and his team from The Film Theorists channel, developed a Natural Language Sentiment Algorithm that analyzed the text of Justice League reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, looking for anomalies indicative of bot behavior. Their findings showed that Justice League reviews were, overall, not the victim of botting, but rather, there was a clear and distinct pattern of fans giving the film poor marks in their written reviews and a 5 Star rating f…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 4x16- "Run Iris, Run"

The Flash (4x16) - "Run Iris, Run"
Written by: Eric Wallace Directed by: Harry Jierjian So by now I think we've had the "tropes and clichés as the foundation of Television writing" conversation more than once. We've firmly established that they aren't something that has to be avoided so much as something the producers have to make their own when they use them. There's three BIG clichés that pretty much every superhero show has done over the years: "The hero loses his/her powers and has to live life like a mortal for an episode," "The hero visits a world where they never existed or never got their powers" and "The hero's love interest gets their powers" episode. The Flash has done the first one already (actually, they kind of did the second one two last year when Barry visited the future.) The "love interest gets the hero's powers" story goes way back.It happened several times in the Silver Age comics, there&…

LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Promoting Constantine to Series Regular for Possible Season 4

Legends of Tomorrow hasn't been formally renewed for a fourth season (yet), but if it is, the show is adding a new character to the team.

It has been announced (via TV Line) that Matt Ryan's John Constantine will be a series regular on Legends next season. That is, if the show is renewed. But the series, along with the rest of The CW's DC shows, is fully expected to come back. And the promotion of one character is a pretty good indicator of its renewal chances.

Constantine starred in his own show on NBC before its infamous cancellation. In 2015, the character was brought into the Arrowverse in an episode of Arrow. This season, Constantine appeared on Legends of Tomorrow, and he has two more appearances lined up this season (including tonight's episode). So, upgrading him to a regular here just makes perfect sense. There's also the animated Constantine series, which premieres on March 24th on CW Seed.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it.

BLACK PANTHER is King of the Box Office for Fifth Weekend in a Row

Black Panther has been out for over a month now, but the Marvel Studios blockbuster is still making an insane amount of money.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Black Panther retained the top spot yet again with an estimated $27 million. This beats competition from newcomers Tomb Raider ($23.5 million) and I Can Only Imagine ($17.1 million). Black Panther is the first comic book movie to stay at #1 for five weekends in a row, and it's the first movie to ever do it since Avatar.

Black Panther is now at $605.4 million in North America and $1.182 billion worldwide. It is expected to pass The Avengers as the highest-grossing superhero movie of all time domestically, while it will soon pass Iron Man 3 to become Marvel's biggest non-Avengers title worldwide. And nothing's stopping it at this point.

Stay tuned for more box office updates as we have them.

Don't Expect THE BATMAN to Begin Production This Year

Last year, Matt Reeves was hired to take over as writer and director of The Batman. Since then, we haven't gotten many official updates. Currently, there's still uncertainty on whether Ben Affleck will reprise the role here (though it's looking unlikely), while baseless speculation "rumors" of Reeves exiting the film had to be debunked. Now, we have a production update.

According to Heroic Hollywood, The Batman is not expected to begin production until 2019. This makes sense, given that Reeves is really taking his time with writing the story and script. Also, Warner Bros. is already shooting 3-4 DC movies this year. Shazam! is filming now, Wonder Woman 2 is shooting in a couple months, and Suicide Squad 2 is reportedly targeting a fall start. Additionally, the studio hopes to shoot the non-canon Joker movie this year.

With production beginning in 2019, this would put The Batman on track for a 2020 or 2021 release. WB already has several dates reserved for DC mov…

Casting Updates for VENOM and CAPTAIN MARVEL

Time to take a break from the Avengers: Infinity War insanity. This week, we have a couple of casting updates for two upcoming Marvel-based films.

According to Deadline, actress Sope Aluko joined the cast of Sony's Venom movie, which wrapped production a couple months ago. No word on who she's playing. Aluko plays Shaman, a guardian of the Heart-Shaped Herb, in Black Panther. However, with Venom expected to take place in its own world without ties to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we can assume she's playing someone else here.

Meanwhile, Captain Marvel is undergoing a casting shakeup, with DeWanda Wise exiting due to scheduling conflicts. Fortunately, Marvel has already found a replacement. According to The Hollywood Reporter, actress Lashana Lynch is in final talks to join the cast. Lynch is best known for starring in ABC's Still Star-Crossed series.

Stay tuned for more as we have it. Venom hits theaters on October 5th, while Captain Marvel arrives on March 8th, 2019.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Breaks Advance Ticket Sales Record After Only 6 Hours

Advance tickets went on sale for Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War this morning, around the same time as the release of that jaw-dropping trailer. Well, just a few hours later, the film has already broken a key record.

Fandango has announced that Infinity War is now the fastest-selling superhero movie within the first 24 hours of ticket sales. This record was broken six hours after the tickets went on sale. This breaks the record set by Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016, which was followed by this year's Black Panther.

Everyone already knew that Infinity War would be a huge success, and this is the latest sign of that. Just wait until box office tracking hits in a few weeks...

LOS ANGELES – MARCH 16, 2018 – Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War has already broken Fandango’s record for best-selling superhero movie in the first 24 hours of presales. Advance tickets for Infinity War went on sale on Fandango at 6 am PST/9 am EST today — and within just six hours, it surpasse…

New AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Trailer Promises the Most Epic Marvel Movie Yet

After much anticipation, Marvel Studios has finally dropped the second trailer for Avengers: Infinity War, which is hitting theaters next month. The trailer is full of incredible new footage from the superhero epic, which unites the Avengers, Spider-Man, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and other Marvel heroes to defend the Earth from Thanos.

Check out the trailer below, and stay tuned for more as we have it.

Avengers: Infinity War is set to hit theaters on April 27th. The 19th installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Robert Downey Jr., Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Jeremy Renner, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Olsen, Sebastian Stan, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Bettany, Samuel L. Ava DuVernay to Direct THE NEW GODS Movie for Warner Bros. and DC Films

Warner Bros. is adding yet another project to the DC Films slate, and this is a big one.

According to Deadline, Ava DuVernay is set to direct a new movie starring Jack Kirby's New Gods. The search is underway for a screenwriter, who will collaborate with DuVernay in creating the story.

The New Gods are part of Kirby's Fourth World Saga, a series of comic book arcs telling the history of New Genesis and Apokolips. Characters like Orion, Big Barda, Darkseid, and many more are heavily involved. DC Films previously scratched the surface of this mythology with Steppenwolf and the Parademons in Justice League, which also namedropped Darkseid.

DuVernay is best known for directing Selma and A Wrinkle in Time. With the latter, she became the first woman of color to direct a $100 million+ movie. And now, she gets to tackle a very unique corner of the DC Universe.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR Directors Tease Hawkeye's Role

Avengers: Infinity War has promoted countless superheroes in its marketing campaign, but one character noticeably absent has been Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye. He wasn't in the trailer, he hasn't gotten any promo art (yet), and he doesn't even have his own Twitter emoji. This led fans to speculate on why he hasn't been marketed. Now, we have an answer.

ComicBookvisited the set of Infinity War last year, and the site spoke with directors Joe and Anthony Russo on what to expect. Talk turned to Hawkeye's role. Basically, it sounds like Clint Barton will have his own journey in the film, rather than be involved with the rest of the ensemble - which would explain why he hasn't been marketed alongside the ensemble.

Joe says, "Hawkeye coming out of [Captain America:] Civil War is in the same position that the Cap and Falcon are in at the end of that movie. And Ant Man. And coming into this movie, the characters who are on Cap's side coming out of Civil War, some…

Ranking the Marvel Netflix Shows So Far

To date, Marvel has launched five original shows on Netflix, all of which have been renewed for multiple seasons. The shows explore a more grounded corner in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, depicting more mature stories and more realistic heroes. Many of the shows have been critically acclaimed, while some have had more lukewarm reception.

With Jessica Jones recently premiering its second season, we rank all of the Marvel Netflix seasons so far...

#8: Iron Fist Season 1
I'm sure we can all agree on this one. Iron Fist is without a doubt Marvel's first Netflix misfire. While not completely terrible (for the most part), the season just feels very generic and bland. This is especially disappointing considering how rich the past shows' stories were. It skims over Danny Rand's origin, the supporting cast (minus Colleen) is forgettable, and we barely even see, you know, the Iron Fist in action.
Considering how weak the response was to this show, I was surprised when Netflix order…

Spike Lee Reportedly Set to Direct NIGHTWATCH Movie, Written by LUKE CAGE Showrunner

Last year, it was rumored that Sony was developing a movie about Marvel character Nightwatch. The film is expected to be part of the studio's new slate of films based on Spider-Man characters, joining Venom, Silver and Black, and Morbius the Living Vampire. The rumor said that Now You See Me scribe Edward Ricourt was writing the movie, while Spike Lee was being looked at to direct. Now, we have an update.

According to That Hashtag Show, Spike Lee is definitely attached to direct Nightwatch. However, he will be working off a script written by Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker. The movie will mark Lee's first film based on a major comic book property.

Nightwatch will star Dr. Kevin Trench, who (traditionally) witnesses a costumed man die battling some terrorists armed with invisibility-generating cloaking devices, and unmasks the corpse to learn that it was an older version of himself. Trench is then caught in a time loop to save his life.

Stay tuned for more updates as we hav…

Nicolas Cage to Play Superman in TEEN TITANS GO! TO THE MOVIES

DC's Teen Titans GO! To the Movies is lining up some celebrity cameos for its voice cast, and courtesy of USA Today, we have confirmation of a big one.

Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage is set to play Superman in the animated movie. The actor nearly played the Man of Steel in live action in Tim Burton's Superman Lives, which was infamously close to beginning production before being scrapped. But now, Cage gets the opportunity to play his dream role in animation.

Additionally, musician Halsey will voice Wonder Woman, while rapper Lil Yachty plays John Stewart/Green Lantern. Several more celebrities will be announced later.

The Teen Titans GO! To the Movies on July 27th, 2018.

TITANS TV Series May Feature Jason Todd

DC's Titans series will feature several fan-favorite characters, from the core Titans members to the Doom Patrol. Rumored characters also include Ra's al Ghul and Bruce Wayne. Now, the latest report may reveal the inclusion of a key Batman supporting character.

TitansTV has shared an alleged list of the first seven episode titles for Titans, and episode 7 is titled "Jason Todd." If true, of course, this signifies the debut of Jason Todd himself. In the comics, Jason was the second Robin before being killed by Joker. He was later resurrected as the villain-turned-antihero called Red Hood.

It's unclear how much of that will be incorporated into Titans, while casting for Todd is currently under wraps. But if this is accurate, the show will serve as Todd's live action debut.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it. Titans will premiere sometime this year on DC's streaming service.
