John Constantine Returns to the Arrowverse

Constantine lives! It might not be what fans wanted but we’ll take it! Matt Ryan will don the trenchcoat one more time in the latest season of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Details down below!

In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, executive producer Phil Klemmer named dropped the demon hunter when was talking about what fans can expect. Klemmer said the following: We get Billy Zane and the circus [in the second episode]; we get a little Julius Caesar on the beach in Aruba in the premiere. We meet [new team member] Zari in this sort of dystopian future. We get to do a little Amblin alien episode back in the ’80s; we do some Jack the Ripper Victorian London; Golden Age of Hollywood; John Constantine doing an exorcism. We do a Freaky Friday episode. The only thing we haven’t been able to do: We really wanted to do an Abba “Waterloo” in then Napoleonic wars but we could not get the rights for the song.

That pretty much confirms it. Ryan reprised his role as Constantine on Arrow two years back, so it’ll be great to see him one more time. Thankfully, CW Seed is reviving the show as an animated series; meaning fans still have the show in some form. In the same vein as Vixen, Constantine will star Matt Ryan and will have shorter adventures set in the Arrowverse. Now, we have a poster, giving us our first look at the series!

The animated Constantine series is written by J.M. DeMatteis (Justice League Dark) and executive-produced by David Goyer (Man of Steel) and the Arrowverse’s Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. It’s slated to debut on CW Seed in early 2018. For more news on Constantine and everything in DC Entertainment, stay tuned.
