GAMBIT Lands a Director (Again)

It looks like Gambit will live to fight another day. The film has been in development hell and has struggled to keep anyone not named Channing Tatum attached to the project. Well, Deadline is reporting that Gore Verbinski (A Cure for Wellness) will direct the film, and Tatum is still signed on to star.

Previously, the film had Doug Liman (American Made) and Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) attached to direct, but both eventually dropped out. Now, with Verbinski hopefully, they can get the film into production. Tatum and Reid Carolin are producing the film alongside Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler. Remy LeBeau a.k.a. Gambit is a classic X-Men character. Making his live-action debut in X-Men: Origins Wolverine (played by Taylor Kitsch), fans have wanted to see the character is something, well, better? This combined with the plot details from earlier in the year should get people excited.
As the X-Men franchise continues to grow, maybe Gambit will finally see the light of day? Fingers crossed. For more on all things Marvel, stay tuned.
