KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE Grosses an Estimated $39 Million in Opening Weekend

Following the success of 2015’s Kingsman: The Secret Service, 20th Century Fox quickly put a sequel into development. Subtitled The Golden Circle, the follow-up has now hit theaters. Despite mixed reviews from critics, the film has easily won the top spot at the box office this weekend.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Kingsman has opened with an estimated $39 million in North America. While that’s behind the $40 million+ projections, this puts the sequel ahead of the first film’s $36.2 million opening weekend, and it’s the fifth biggest September opening ever.

Overseas, Kingsman earned $61 million, bringing its worldwide opening to $100 million. The sequel’s production budget is $104 million (not counting marketing), so unless it has terrible legs in the coming weeks/months, it should have no problem turning a profit. So, how long until that Kingsman 3 announcement?

Stay tuned for more box office updates as we have them.
