Patty Jenkins Now in Final Negotiations to Direct WONDER WOMAN Sequel

After Wonder Woman‘s huge success, Warner Bros. quickly put a sequel into development. Diana Prince’s next standalone adventure will release on December 13th, 2019. Gal Gadot will reprise her role as the hero. But one thing that has been uncertain is director Patty Jenkins’ involvement. She’s already writing the story with Geoff Johns, while she has been negotiating for a new deal to return to the director’s chair.

Fortunately, it looks like that’s going to happen. According to Deadline, Jenkins is now in final negotiations to direct Wonder Woman 2. The reason for the delay is because Jenkins will be given a substantially higher paycheck for the sequel, putting her on the same level as any male director after making a big blockbuster film. The deal, which is being finalized as we speak, would make Jenkins the highest-paid female director in Hollywood.

Wonder Woman has proven to be a true box office force, being the biggest movie in North America of the summer and the second biggest of the whole year. The film is also on the verge of hitting $800 million worldwide. That’s not to mention the rave reviews from critics and audiences, as well as how the movie has resonated with women. So, it should be a no brainer for Jenkins to return for a sequel, and it’s great that she’s getting a bigger payday.

Stay tuned for more as we have it.
