IRON FIST Star Finn Jones Reveals When Season 2 Starts Filming, Promises Better Fight Scenes

Despite mixed-to-negative reception from fans and critics, Netflix has renewed Marvel’s Iron Fist for a second season. The season will continue Danny Rand’s journey from both the first season and The Defenders. Meanwhile, Luke Cage‘s Misty Knight will appear. Now, we know when production begins.

In an interview with Inverse, star Finn Jones says that he begins his season two training next week, and filming is expected to begin in 4-5 months. He also promises that the fight scenes will be greatly improved from season one. “We’re at least four or five months away from shooting, so this time around, I’m being given a lot more preparation leading up to Season 2, which I think is really gonna have a huge improvement on the quality of the fight scenes in Season 2 of Iron Fist.”

The fight choreography in Iron Fist was one of the show’s biggest critiques; it’s especially noticeable compared to the high-quality fights in the other Netflix shows, especially Daredevil. However, Rand’s fighting in The Defenders was a lot better. Jones credits this to being used to the choreography by now, as well as a new stunt team and cameraman.

Currently, Netflix is expected to release second seasons of  Jessica Jones and Luke Cage next year, with Daredevil‘s third season likely coming later. So, unless Netflix upgrades to four Marvel shows a year, we may have to wait until 2019 before we see Iron Fist again.
