Nicole Kidman Confirms Role in AQUAMAN

A couple months ago, it was reported that Nicole Kidman was in talks to join DC Films' Aquaman as the hero's mother. This was the second DC Extended Universe role that she was approached for; she was approached for Wonder Woman, but passed due to scheduling conflicts. However, she is definitely on board for Aquaman.

Kidman has confirmed to Entertainment Weeklythat she is playing Aquaman's mother, Queen Atlanna. The Oscar winning actress talked about her friendship with director James Wan, as well as how he sold her on this role. "The reason why I love [Aquaman] is James Wan is an Australian, and I’ve followed his career since he started. He’s a really good friend of mine, and he offered to let me play Queen Atlanna. As soon as he said I could wear mother-of-pearl and be a mermaid warrior, I said I’m done. Please. If there is one thing I have to do in my life, I have to be that. Because, you’ve got to have some fun."

WONDER WOMAN LEGO Set Offers Look at the Movie's Villain

Among the toy companies creating products for DC Films' Wonder Woman is The LEGO Group, which has a long line of DC Superheroes sets. Today, the company (via Entertainment Weekly) unveiled the first LEGO set based on the upcoming movie. and  it features a glimpse of a character who we haven't seen in the trailers...not yet, anyways.

Some people may consider this set's contents to be a SPOILER, so keep reading at your own risk.

So, this LEGO set features none other than Ares. While the villain has been absent from the movie's marketing (again, so far), his presence has already been confirmed by the recent set visits. The 286-piece LEGO set is titled "Wonder Woman Warrior Battle," and it features Diana Prince and Steve Trevor taking on the God of War. It will hit stores on May 1st, and hopefully, it'll be the first of several Wonder Woman sets.

Wonder Woman is scheduled to hit theaters June 2nd. The fourth installment in the DC Extended Universe stars Gal G…

Warner Bros. Developing BATGIRL Movie from Joss Whedon

This year, Warner Bros. has already added several films to its DC development slate. Dwayne Johnson's Black Adam is getting his own movie, while The LEGO Batman Movie's Chris McKay is tackling Nightwing. Now, another key Batman supporting character is coming to the big screen, and the studio has found a big name to do it.

According to Variety, Joss Whedon is nearing a deal to direct, write and produce a film starring Batgirl. The movie, which was conceived within the last month, is being overseen by Geoff Johns, Jon Berg, and Toby Emmerich. Entertainment Weeklyadds that Batgirl will (obviously) star Barbara Gordon, and the film is inspired by Gail Simone's New 52 run. The movie is also expected to feature other characters from Gotham City.

Whedon, of course, is no stranger to the world of superheroes. He wrote and directed Marvel's two Avengers movies, which grossed a combined $2.9 billion worldwide. His other credits include Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly. In f…

First Look at BLACK LIGHTNING, The CW's New DC Superhero

Filming is now underway on Black Lightning, the new DC Entertainment pilot from Greg Berlanti, Salim Akil, and Mara Brock Akil. Originally picked up by Fox, the pilot later moved to The CW, joining Berlanti's four other DC shows. Now, we have a first look at the character.

The CW has released a first-look image of actor Cress Williams suited up as Jefferson Pierce, aka Black Lightning. The costume was designed by Laura Jean Shannon, whose past credits include Iron Man and The Jungle Book.

Salim Akil had this to say about what the Black Lightning character stands for, as well as the new costume. "I knew way too much about the world as a young boy growing up in Richmond, California. I was no stranger to violence, death, hopelessness or the feeling that no one cared about what was happening in my life. Comics were a great way for me to escape. I was about 13 when Black Lightning was created, and finally there was a Black Super Hero that gave a damn about our neighborhood and ou…

FLASH SPOILER Review: Episode 3x18 - "Abra Kadabra"

The Flash (3x18) - "Abra Kadabra" Written by:       Andrew Kreisberg Story by:          Brooke Roberts & David Kob Directed by:     Nina Lopez-Corrado
My name is Michael Thomas, after Jason Thompson had to leave on business, I have arrived with only one goal, to follow in his footsteps and review The Flash. Let's do this!

Coming off of the "divisive" musical episode, things are finally back to normal, well... relatively speaking. Barry and Iris are showing off her engagement ring to Cecile; like a normal couple. Later on Cecile invites them to see Hamilton with her and Joe, the show is in June, a month after Iris' (potential) death. This season has done a fantastic job at making sure we don't forget that Iris' life is in danger. We later see our freak of the week, Abra Kadabra (David Dastmalchian). Now, Mr. Kadabra had the making of an overly cheesy villain, but as the episode goes on he actually becomes a solid antagonist. He has these futurist…

Katie Cassidy Returning to ARROW as Series Regular in Season 6

Katie Cassidy's Laurel Lance/Black Canary has played a key role on Arrow ever since the pilot, all the way through her death last season. To say that her death was a controversial decision is an understatement. While Laurel of Earth-1 is dead, Cassidy has reprised the role in other ways. She voiced the character on Vixen, while portraying her villainous Earth-2 doppelganger, Black Siren, on an episode of The Flash. Additionally, Laurel appeared in Arrow's 100th episode and flashbacks elsewhere.

Black Siren then returned this season on Arrow, as part of Prometheus' grand plan. Siren was ultimately defeated and sent to ARGUS, but with Oliver's determination to bring the old Laurel back, the door was open for Siren to undergo a redemption arc.

Now, Arrow is bringing the character back full-time. It has been announced that Cassidy will appear in the last two episodes of this season, before returning as a series regular in season six. And yes, this Laurel is the Black Sire…

SUPERGIRL Upgrading Katie McGrath's Lena Luthor to Series Regular in Season 3

Supergirl introduces several key new characters in its second season, including Lena Luthor. Lena is, obviously, the sister of Lex Luthor, and she has worked towards taking LuthorCorp beyond the shadow of her brother's sinister deeds. She has also become a friend of Kara's, and her loyalty has been tested by the legacy of her family.

Now, with Supergirl flying towards a third season, we'll be seeing a lot more of Lena next year. According to Deadline, actress Katie McGrath has been promoted to a series regular for season three. She is just a recurring role in season two. It's currently unknown what Lena's story arc will entail next season, as well as her role in any future episodes this season.

Stay tuned for more Supergirl news as we have it.

THE BATMAN May Add Producer Dylan Clark

DC Films' The Batman recently secured Matt Reeves as director, replacing star Ben Affleck and putting the project back on track. The director is still working on this summer's War for the Planet of the Apes, so he won't be able to focus completely on Batman until later in the year. Additionally, rumor has it that the script - already rewritten by Chris Terrio - will be heavily revised. While we wait for verification of those rumors, we may have another producer for the project.

According to Deadline, Dylan Clark is in talks to produce The Batman. Clark worked closely with Reeves on his two Planet of the Apes movies, While Clark's deal hasn't been closed - he's also focusing on his production company, Bluegrass, stationed at Universal - it does sound likely at this point. If a deal closes, Clark joins Reeves, Affleck, and Geoff Johns as producers on The Batman.

Production on The Batman is expected to begin sometime next year. If it does, it will probably be rel…

Charlie Hunnam Has No Interest in Playing Green Arrow - Or Any Other Superhero

There are (apparently) no plans to bring Green Arrow into the DC Extended Universe, but that hasn't stopped fans from suggesting actors to play the character on film. The most frequently actor fancast for the role has been King Arthur: Legend of the Sword star Charlie Hunnam. However, these fans are bound to be disappointed by the actor's comments on the idea.

Speaking with Yahoo! Movies (transcription via CBM), Hunnam reveals that he is uninterested in playing a superhero. Hell, he has no idea who the Green Arrow character is. "I didn’t grow up a comic book fan and I haven’t really seen any of those Marvel films or the Batman films. It’s just not really my taste. I must confess, I don’t really know who the Green Arrow is. It’s not part of my vision for my career or what I aspire to."

So, yeah, turns out Hunnam doesn't care for the idea. Oh well. Besides, while we wait for Green Arrow to come to the big screen, there's always Arrow, which is now in arguably …

WONDER WOMAN Officially Gets its PG-13 Rating

The MPAA has sent out its movie ratings for this week, and among them is DC Films' Wonder Woman. To the surprise of literally no one, the superhero movie has been given a PG-13 rating.

Wonder Woman has been rated PG-13 for "sequences of violence and action, and some suggestive content." So, pretty much exactly what was expected. Tons of action and violence are to be expected in these movies. Meanwhile, past DC films have had sensuality or suggestive content as a reason for their PG-13 ratings, so the trend continues here.

Wonder Woman's rating comes just as the film is entering the final leg of its marketing campaign. Warner Bros, recently released a new (and final?) theatrical trailer, while the studio is expected to promote the film at WonderCon within the next couple weeks. So, stay tuned for more as we have it.

The Flash: The Doctor is In

The cutthroat is coming to The Flash. According to TV Line, Anne Dudek, House alum has been cast in the ending episodes of The Flash as Tracy Brand, future genius extraordinaire with no idea of her potential.
I watched House for years, and Dudek's character Amber/Cutthroat B I loved because she was virtually the female House and could counter him every step of the way. I can't wait to see what she brings to The Flash
The Flash is on The CW Tuesdays at 8 pm eastern.

Marc Guggenheim Teases New DC Character in LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Season 3; Expect Less Time Travel in THE FLASH Season 4

Here, we have more tidbits from The CW's big Arrowverse panel at PaleyFest this past weekend. Rotten Tomatoesspoke with Legends of Tomorrow showrunner Phil Klemmer and producer Marc Guggenheim on the red carpet. There, they offered some new hints for the show's third season.

Legends had some major casting shakeups from its first season, removing original team members and adding new characters in season two. Season three will continue this trend, as new Legends will join the Waverider crew. Guggenheim confirms that one of these characters will be a pre-existing DC character...but with a catch.

Guggenheim cryptically teases, "We’re drawing on an established character who is not from the comics. Let me be very clear: not original to the show but not from the comics and not from any of the other DC Arrowverse shows." To help narrow down who this is, Guggenheim says simply to watch other television shows and movies that are based on DC Comics, but created some original ch…

New Details on ARROW and LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Season Finales

The CW held a panel for its DC shows at PaleyFest this past weekend, featuring many cast members and producers from the Arrowverse. Both at the panel and on the red carpet, they offered new details on what to expect this season. Included are some hints for the season finales of both Arrow and DC's Legends of Tomorrow.
Speaking with Rotten Tomatoes on the red carpet, Arrow producer Wendy Mericle confirms that this year's finale will finally break the trend of having a terrorist attack in Star City. This is due to Prometheus being a much more personal, grounded threat to Oliver Queen and the team. "I’ll just say this: Star City is not in jeopardy. As we’ve joked before, there’s always a terrorist attack on Star City in May. Not this time. Prometheus is a very personal villain, very psychological villain and the ending will be appropriate to that."
In all four previous season finales, there was always a terrorist attack on the city. There was Malcolm Merlyn's Under…
