Nicole Kidman Confirms Role in AQUAMAN
A couple months ago, it was reported that Nicole Kidman was in talks to join DC Films’ Aquaman as the hero’s mother. This was the second DC Extended Universe role that she was approached for; she was approached for Wonder Woman, but passed due to scheduling conflicts. However, she is definitely on board for Aquaman. Kidman has confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that she is playing Aquaman’s mother, Queen Atlanna. Among the toy companies creating products for DC Films’ Wonder Woman is The LEGO Group, which has a long line of DC Superheroes sets. Warner Bros. Developing BATGIRL Movie from Joss Whedon
This year, Warner Bros. has already added several films to its DC development slate. Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is getting his own movie, while The LEGO Batman Movie‘s Chris McKay is tackling Nightwing. Now, another key Batman supporting character is coming to the big screen, and the studio has found a big name to do it. According to Variety, Joss Whedon is nearing a deal to direct, write and produce a film starring Batgirl. First Look at BLACK LIGHTNING, The CW’s New DC Superhero
Filming is now underway on Black Lightning, the new DC Entertainment pilot from Greg Berlanti, Salim Akil, and Mara Brock Akil. Originally picked up by Fox, the pilot later moved to The CW, joining Berlanti’s four other DC shows. Now, we have a first look at the character. The CW has released a first-look image of actor Cress Williams suited up as Jefferson Pierce, aka Black Lightning. The costume was designed by Laura Jean Shannon, whose past credits include Iron Man and The Jungle Book. Warner Bros. and IMAX Creating VR Experiences Based on JUSTICE LEAGUE and AQUAMAN
Virtual reality experiences are kind of a big deal right now, particularly in the worlds of film and gaming. Now, Warner Bros. is teaming up with IMAX to create new experiences based on some upcoming DC Films. Justice League VR, based on the hotly anticipated superhero ensemble, will launch later this year. Katie Cassidy’s Laurel Lance/Black Canary has played a key role on Arrow ever since the pilot, all the way through her death last season. To say that her death was a controversial decision is an understatement. While Laurel of Earth-1 is dead, Cassidy has reprised the role in other ways. She voiced the character on Vixen, while portraying her villainous Earth-2 doppelganger, Black Siren, on an episode of The Flash. The Epic JUSTICE LEAGUE Trailer is Finally Here
After much anticipation and several character promos, Warner Bros. has finally released the first theatrical trailer for Justice League(check out our review HERE). The trailer teases Batman and Wonder Woman’s quest to unite the rest of the League, as a new threat arrives on Earth. The Justice League trailer is chock full of awesome action scenes, showcasing the powers of newcomers Flash, Aquaman, and Cyborg. We also have first footage of a few other supporting characters. SUPERGIRL Upgrading Katie McGrath’s Lena Luthor to Series Regular in Season 3
Supergirl introduces several key new characters in its second season, including Lena Luthor. Lena is, obviously, the sister of Lex Luthor, and she has worked towards taking LuthorCorp beyond the shadow of her brother’s sinister deeds.
