BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Gets a Bunch of Razzie Nominations for Some Reason

While Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has a dedicated fanbase (myself included), there are also plenty of people who aren’t so fond of it. The majority of film critics hated it, while the general audience had a lukewarm response.

So, I guess it shouldn’t be too surprising that the movie has a presence at this year’s Annual Golden Raspberry (Razzies) awards. But what is surprising is just how many nominations it has. For the 37th Razzie Nominations, Batman v Superman has received a whopping eight nominations, second only to Zoolander No. 2‘s nine.

BvS – which is called a “WTF comic book battle-royale” – is up for Worst Picture; Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel; and Worst Screenplay. Meanwhile, Zack Snyder is nominated for Worst Director, while both Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill are up for Worst Actor. Affleck and his “BFF (Baddest Foe Ever),” Cavill, are also up for the Worst Screen Combo award. And Jesse Eisenberg is nominated for Worst Supporting Actor.

Batman v Superman isn’t the only DC film targeted by the Razzies. Suicide Squad has also picked up a couple of nominations. It is another nominee for Worst Screenplay, while Jared Leto is up for Worst Supporting Actor.

I get that the Razzies aren’t that big a deal, but come on – Batman v Superman isn’t that bad. Sure, the movie has some flaws, but not enough to warrant these nominations. Snyder did a hell of a job directing the film, while Affleck and Cavill’s performances were great. I mean, even people who hated the movie thought that Affleck did a good job. But, it is what it is I guess.
