FEATURE: 6 Things We Want to See From YOUNG JUSTICE SEASON 3

We made it! Young Justice season 3 is finally happening. The announcement was made official yesterday. We last saw the team take down the light, and save the world. Now we’ll be taking a look at the 6 things we want to see in season 3. There will be spoilers, proceed with caution.

6. More Nightwing

Dick Grayson is one of the main members of The Team; some might even say he’s the main character of the show. In season 2 Nightwing was the leader of the team and was a main focus, but he somehow still felt underutilised. He rarely left the cave and only had a couple of fight scenes. Nightwing is the most entertaining character from the original team, and his fight scene were the on the show. With him returning control of the team to Aqualad, maybe we’ll see Nightwing take on a more hands on approach.

5. The New Team

After season 1 of Young Justice we took a 5 year time jump for season 2. The second season had an expanded roster. New additions such as: Beast Boy, Tim Drake’s Robin, Batgirl, Impulse and many more. Will we see a similar occurrence in season 3? I’m hopeful that we’ll see more characters added. Maybe characters like Supergirl, Raven, and Cyborg can finally make an appearance. They could also stick with the existing team. Having Static and Impulse become major players might just be enough. There’s so many ways they can go about this, and that within itself is exciting.

4. Refocus On The Main Characters

This next one kinda contradicts the last one, but hear me out. The original team of Aqualad, Robin, Kid Flash, Miss Martian, Superboy and Artemis didn’t interact at all in season 2. They introduced so many new characters that at times it felt like they forgot about what hooked us in the first place. Finding the right balance of old and new characters is going to be something to watch out for in season 3.

3. Where’s Wally?

During the season 2 finale we see Kid Flash disappear without a trace. Now, we can assume that he died that day; or we can hope to see this fan favorite return. Wally West is a Speedster and this gives him access to the speedforce. We’ve seen The Flash go into the speedforce multiple times. He did just last season on The Flash and in the Justice League Unlimited season 1 finale. The return of Wally West would be a huge emotional moment for the team and the fans. Having a moment similar to Wally’s return in DC Rebirth would perfect.

2. Darkseid

The very last scene of season 2 teased Darkseid as the big bad if the show ever returned. Darkseid is a huge character, maybe the biggest villain in the DC universe. How will the team take him on? Will they have to team up with the Justice League? That would be the coolest thing ever! Having Darkseid as the villain is a bit ambitious, but I’m confident they could make it work. The League just might have to be more involved this time around.

1. Red Hood

During that five year time jump I mentioned earlier, Dick Grayson became Nightwing and Tim Drake became the new Robin. We later find out that someone else was Robin between Dick and Tim (unlike Batman: The Animated Series), and that person is none other than Jason Todd. Red Hood was teased multiple times during season 2 and will definitely play a role later down the line. This has the potential be the best take on the character outside of the comics. Seeing Red Hood interact with The Team, Batman, Robin, Batgirl and Nightwing is enough to get me excited. Maybe he’ll best a side story to the main Darkseid plot. We’ll just have to wait and see.
