Sounds Like ARROW is Resurrecting [Spoiler] Later This Season

Throughout its run, Arrow has killed off multiple major characters. Some of these actually stayed dead, while others, such as Legends of Tomorrow star Sara Lance, was resurrected. The Arrowverse has become known for killing off characters, only to bring them back in some way – whether it be flashbacks, time travel or even the Multiverse.

Now, it looks like another fan-favorite Arrow character is getting a second chance at life later this season. Producer Wendy Mericle discusses this in a new interview.

[Warning: The Following Contains SPOILERS From Season Five of Arrow.]

In an interview with TV Guide, Mericle confirms that none other than Laurel Lance, aka Black Canary will be returning to Arrow later this season. She will appear in episode 5×10, the midseason premiere. And based on Mericle’s comments, it sounds like this is an actual resurrection; none of that flashback BS.

Mericle explains, “People can leave and get killed and you can still find new and crazy ways for them to come back. I can definitely tell you that there’s a way we’re going to bring [Laurel] back and she’s going to be alive and well. And Flashpoint might have a little bit to do with that.” Sister series The Flash is tackling the “Flashpoint” story arc this season, and it will have repercussions on the other shows as well. Looks like we now know what one of those is.

Laurel died last season on Arrow at the hands of Damien Darhk. In past interviews, the show’s producers indicated that this death is permanent, even giving explanations on both this series and Legends of Tomorrow on how she can’t be resurrected. But it appears that this is yet another example of “[Character] dies, but not really” in this world. (You could maybe blame the social media outrage to Laurel’s death for this change.)
