Sony Pictures Picks Up Biopic on William Moulton Marston, the Creator of Wonder Woman

Diana Prince's origin story will finally be told on the big screen with next year's Wonder Woman. But it looks like the character's backstory will be told in a completely different setting in another movie. According to Deadline, Sony Pictures has acquired the worldwide distribution rights to Professor Marston and the Wonder Women, which details the true story of Wonder Woman's creator.

Luke Evans stars as Dr. William Moulton Marston, the psychologist who created the Wonder Woman character in 1941 with his wife, Elizabeth (Rebecca Hall). The biopic will also cover the two's polyamorous relationship with Olive Byrne (Bella Heathcote).

Professor Marston, which began production this week, is written and directed by Angela Robinson. The indie film is produced by Topple Productions and Boxspring Entertainment. A release date has yet to be announced.
