THE FLASH and SUPERGIRL Musical Two-Parter Announced

With Supergirl now at The CW for its second season, the network is moving forward with furthering their ambitions to have Kara Zor-El team-up with The Flash and possibly Arrow (both of which are also CW shows) more often. Supergirl and The Flash have already shared an episode together, with Barry making an appearance on Supergirl‘s “Worlds Finest” episode last season on CBS, while Kara has yet to meet Green Arrow in DC’s television universe (though that’ll soon change).

Today, during the Television Critics Association summer press tour, it was announced a two-part crossover episode of Supergirl and The Flash will be coming this upcoming Fall TV season. However, it’s not exactly the duo of episodes that you’d expect. Apparently, the pair of episodes will be music-based with Melissa Benoist and Grant Gustin, both of whom are Glee alums, showing off their sets of lungs while portraying their respective characters.

Executive producer Greg Berlanti confirmed the news. “Yes, there will be a musical crossover. There’s going to be a musical pair of episodes in the back half of the year between Supergirl and The Flash.” Berlanti mentioned that Arrow‘s John Barrowman and Legends of Tomorrow‘s Victor Garber also have singing experience. As for what kind of music the two will be singing, Berlanti said they’ll mostly be performing preexisting tunes, but did note that “We have been talking about trying to write at least one original song per episode.”

This news is certainly interesting, and while it’ll undoubtedly make some roll their eyes, it could be something truly fun. We’ll just have to see. Stay tuned for more as we have it.
