AQUAMAN Screenwriter Teases Action Sequences and More

Last month, Will Beall was hired to write the latest draft for Aquaman, based on an “extensive” story treatment by director James Wan and DC Films co-chief Geoff Johns. The screenwriter spoke with /Film at the Television Critics Association (TCA) tour recently, and inevitably, Aquaman came up.

Regarding the setting of the DC movie’s action scenes, Beall reveals that we’ll see some action both underwater and on land. “I can tell you that not all of the action takes place underwater. Some of the most fun action in the movie actually takes place on dry land.” He then confirms that he’s still working on the script with Wan and Johns, and he refuses to comment on the recent reports about Black Manta being the villain.

We’ll get to officially meet Aquaman in next year’s Justice League movie. Beall is asked if that film’s developments will make some Aquaman elements subject to change. He says no, because the creative team for Justice League is also aware of what will happen in Aquaman’s solo film. “Everybody knows what’s happening so it’s not that. It’s working out what’s going to make the best movie.”
