Metallo Will Battle SUPERGIRL and Superman in Season 2

Superman will be stopping by in the first two episodes of Supergirl's second season. However, he will be bringing along one of his classic villains: John Corben, aka Metallo.

According to Entertainment Weekly, actor Frederick Schmidt has been cast as Metallo on Supergirl. The character will appear in at least two episodes, including the season two premiere. This version of Corben is described as an international assassin who " badly injured after taking on both Supergirl and Superman." A "shadow" organization then intervenes, transforming Corben into the villain Metallo.

Supergirl marks the latest live action adaptation of Metallo. The character was previously in Smallville, Lois & Clark and Superboy.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it. Supergirl returns on Monday, October 10th at 8 PM EST on The CW.

Deathstroke is Reportedly the Main Villain of Ben Affleck's BATMAN Movie; First Look Revealed

Deathstroke has been heavily rumored to join the DC Extended Universe for some time. He was expected to show up in Suicide Squad at some point, but that never happened. Meanwhile, Arrow's Marc Guggenheim confirmed that the character wasn't going to return to the show, due to DC utilizing him for "another project." Now, Slade Wilson is officially coming to the big screen.

Batman actor Ben Affleck posted the following video on both Twitter and Facebook, offering a first look at Deathstroke. The Wraphas also revealed that Slade Wilson will be the main antagonist in Affleck's Batman movie.  Additionally, Justice League is still shooting, and this video is said to be shot in the Flying Fox. So, is Deathstroke in that film as well?

Also, it's unclear which actor is playing Deathstroke. I'm sure we'll see some clarification on this soon. Stay tuned.

Lionsgate is Bringing Former DC Title THE MONOLITH to the Big Screen

Back in 2004 and 2005, DC Comics published a series titled The Monolith. Created by writers Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, the series ran for twelve issues until it was canceled, due to poor sales. DC later relinquished the rights to the property, which reverted back to Palmiotti and Gray. A collection of the series was published by Image Comics in 2012.

But now, the property is coming to the big screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lionsgate is developing a film adaptation of The Monolith. Dave Wilson, the creative director of Blur Studio, will make his directorial debut with this movie. Barnett Brettler is writing the script, while Erwin Stoff is producing.

The Monolith is described as a contemporary retelling of the classic Golem tale. The story follows Alice Cohen, who is "...a down-and-out ex-junkie who inherits a house in Brooklyn from her deceased grandmother. Alice discovers her diary and begins to read the tale of a lost love and revenge that begins in the facto…

SUICIDE SQUAD Shifts Down to #2 in Fourth Weekend of Release

Suicide Squad held onto the top spot at the North American box office for three weekends in a row - the first installment of the DC Extended Universe to do so. However, with horror thriller Don't Breathe drastically overperforming in its opening weekend, it's time for the Squad to move down to second place.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Suicide Squad grossed an estimated $12.1 million this weekend. This is a 42% drop from last weekend's gross of $21.7 million. The DC film has currently earned $282.9 million domestically, $353 million internationally and $636 million worldwide.

Gitesh Pandyapredicts that Suicide Squad will end its domestic run with about $310 million. Meanwhile, it might reach a massive $730 million by the end of its worldwide run - and that's without a release in China. This would put it ahead of 2013's Man of Steel ($291M/$668M), but behind Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($330M/$872M). For a critically panned film starring lesser known c…

SUICIDE SQUAD Hits $600 Million Worldwide Ahead of Weekend #4

Suicide Squad is entering its fourth weekend of release. After three weeks at the top spot, the DC film is expected to go down to #2, as horror thriller Don't Breathe is on track to open with #1. Squad is tracking for a $10-12 million gross this weekend. But now, the movie has surpassed yet another milestone.

Writer-director David Ayer announced on Twitter last night that Suicide Squad has hit $600 million worldwide. It had passed $500 million just last week. For a critically panned film starring lesser known comic book characters, $600 million+ is an impressive number.

Warner Bros. reportedly spent $325 million to both produce and market Suicide Squad, so to break even, its final worldwide gross has to be around $650 million. And if the film keeps doing well over the next couple weeks, it will most likely hit that number.

@SuicideSquadWB 600 million worldwide! Thank you to everyone for making this a success! @WarnerBrosEnt — David Ayer (@DavidAyerMovies) August 26, 2016

Andrew Kreisberg Teases SUPERGIRL's "More Traditional" Take on Superman

After being referenced countless times in the first season, Superman is finally coming to Supergirl. The Man of Steel, played by Tyler Hoechlin, will appear in the first two episodes of season two. Now, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg has revealed new details on the show's characterization of Superman.

In an interview with Collider, Kreisberg explains how Kal-El will be depicted on Supergirl, citing a slightly "more traditional" incarnation. "I think our take on him is probably something a little bit more traditional. There’s certainly a little bit of the 'Aw shucks' about him, but he’s been Superman for awhile, so there’s a savviness about him as Superman and as Clark. If he’s been Superman for 12 years, that also means that he’s been Clark Kent for 12 years. He knows how to interview somebody. He knows how to get a story out of someone."

Over the past 77 years, Superman has been depicted countless times in film, television, animation and, of cour…

The Rival is Coming to THE FLASH in Season 3

In the trailer for season three of The Flash, a new speedster wearing a black suit was glimpsed. Who is he? Fans assumed that he was Savitar, one of the season's two big bads. However, Greg Berlanti confirmed that Savitar hasn't even been cast yet, so it's not him. But now, we have a name for this character, and he's yet another evil speedster from the comics.

According to TV Line, the speedster known as The Rival is coming to The Flash next season. He will be played by The Vampire Diaries alum Todd Lasance. The character will recur throughout the season, and he will first appear in the season premiere.

In the comics, The Rival is the arch nemesis of Jay Garrick, the Flash of the Golden Age. However, it's unknown if this will be touched upon in the television series.

Hopefully, we'll hear some casting news for Savitar very soon. Stay tuned.

The Flash returns on Tuesday, October 4th at 8 PM EST on The CW.

Doug Liman Will Direct JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK Movie for Warner Bros.

It's been a while since we've heard anything on Warner Bros.' Justice League Dark film, titled Dark Universe. Guillermo del Toro was attached to direct for a few years, but he eventually dropped out. Since then, we've heard a slew of director and casting rumors for the DC movie. In the meantime, an animated movie starring the supernatural team was announced for a 2017 release.

Now, Dark Universe is finally moving forward with a new filmmaker.

According to Variety, Doug Liman is set to direct the DC ensemble film. The script is being written by Michael Gilio. The movie was apparently shelved after del Toro became "sidetracked" by other projects, but producer Scott Rubin's hiring last year resulted in the film being put back into development.

Dark Universe will reportedly play a "major" role in the DC Extended Universe. It stars a team of magic-based characters: John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, Deadman and Etrigan the Demon.

Last week, it was announced a new animated movie based on the Batman 1966 television show will be released this fall. Titled Return of the Caped Crusaders, the film marks the return of Adam West, Burt Ward and Julie Newmar as Batman, Robin and Catwoman, respectively.

And now, IGNhas premiered a new trailer for the movie. The trailer contains plenty of action-packed footage, as the Dynamic Duo takes on Joker, Catwoman, Penguin and Riddler. We also have the film's Blu-Ray box art, as well as a plot synopsis. Check it all out below, and stay tuned for more as we have it.

It’s back to the 1960s as Batman and Robin spring into action when Gotham City is threatened by a quartet of Batman’s most fiendish foes – Penguin, The Joker, Riddler and Catwoman. FEATURE: Five Directors Who Should Be Considered for SHAZAM

Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema's Shazam movie was confirmed a couple of years ago. Dwayne Johnson is attached to play villain/anti-hero Black Adam, with Darren Lemke writing the script. Since then, we've gotten occasional updates on the film, including confirmation that it will be set in the DC Extended Universe. (In case anyone had any doubt.) The movie is currently set for release on April 5th, 2019.
As of this writing, a director has yet to be hired for Shazam. This isn't surprising, as the priority right now is to perfect the movie's script before moving forward with pre-production. And we're probably a couple years away from filming. That being said, there are plenty of filmmakers who would do a great job in bringing Billy Batson's world to life on the big screen.
Below, I've compiled a list of five (more accurately six) directors who should be considered for Shazam.

SUICIDE SQUAD Holds #1 Spot in its Third Weekend

Suicide Squad is now in its third weekend of release. Despite negative reviews from critics, the DC film has been doing well at the box office. The other day, it crossed $500 million worldwide. This weekend, it has to hold on to its #1 crown from several new releases, such as War Dogs and Ben-Hur. How did Suicide Squad do?

According to The Hollywood ReporterSuicide Squad has retained the #1 spot in North America with an estimated $20.7 million. This is a 52% drop from last weekend's $43.8 million gross. The film has now earned $262.3 million domestically. Gitesh Pandyasays that the movie is currently on track to finish with $300 million+ by the end of its theatrical run.

Box Office Mojoadds that Suicide Squad has now grossed about $572.7 million worldwide. It will likely pass $600 million sometime this week. Warner Bros. reportedly spent $325 million to both produce and market the movie, so to break even, its final worldwide gross has to be around $650 million. If Suicide Squad c…

THE FLASH Casts New Villain The Top for Season 3

Barry Allen is facing a slew of new enemies on The Flash next season. Dr. Alchemy and Savitar are the two big bads, while Mirror Master is on the way. Plus, Reverse-Flash and Gorilla Grodd are set to return. Now, another iconic Flash villain is coming to the show, but with a twist.

According to E! Online, Awkward star Ashley Rickards has been cast as Rosalind "Rosa" Dillon, aka The Top. She makes her debut in episode four of the season - the same episode that marks the first appearance of Mirror Master. The two villains will serve as a Bonnie and Clyde-type duo. In the comics, The Top (a male character) has the power to, well, make people's heads spin.

As if this episode wasn't significant enough, S3E4 will also mark the return of Leonard Snart, aka Captain Cold. Earlier this year, Wentworth Miller signed a deal to appear across all of The CW's superhero shows, including Flash. This episode will see a "struggle" between Cold and Mirror Master, whose or…

ARROW Casts Wil Traval as the Human Target

DC Comics' Christopher Chance, aka Human Target, previously headlined two television shows, both titled Human Target. The 1990s show starred Rick Springfield as the character, while the 2010 series starred Mark Valley. Now, a third version of Chance is coming to TV, this time on The CW's Arrow.

According to KSiteTV, Christopher Chance/Human Target is appearing on episode five of Arrow this season. This episode is titled, well, "Human Target." The character will be played by Wil Traval, who you may recognize as the actor who played Will Simpson on Marvel/Netflix's Jessica Jones.

Warner Bros. TV describes Arrow's version of Human Target as "...a professional bodyguard and master of disguise who assumes the identities of those targeted by assassins. His latest client: Mayor Oliver Queen." It's unknown if Human Target will only appear in this episode, or if he'll return for more later this season.

SUICIDE SQUAD Surpasses $500 Million at the Worldwide Box Office

Suicide Squad opened two weeks ago, and despite critics' negative reviews and a 67% drop in its second weekend, the DC film has been doing well at the box office. Today, it has been confirmed (via Deadline) that the movie has surpassed a key milestone in its theatrical run.

Today, Suicide Squad has crossed the $500 million mark worldwide. Currently, the film has grossed over $238 million domestically and $271 million overseas. This brings its worldwide total to $509 million after just 13 days of release. Suicide Squad is the eleventh biggest movie of 2016 so far, and after this weekend, it should crack the top ten.

Suicide Squad is expected to hold on to the #1 spot in North America this weekend. Projections suggest that the movie will gross $20-22 million, which would be a 50% drop from last weekend. If these projections hold, Suicide Squad will become the fifth film of 2016 to be #1 for three weekends in a row.

Warner Bros. reportedly spent $325 million to both produce and market …

THE FLASH Executive Producer Teases Season 3's Tone; How Does Savitar Stand Out From Other Speedsters?

So in the season two finale of The Flash, Barry went back in time to stop Reverse-Flash from killing his mother. This decision leads directly into the show's adaptation of "Flashpoint." In the next season, Barry will be facing not one, but two main villains: Dr. Alchemy and the speedster Savitar.

Now, I know what you're thinking. Another evil speedster? Really? The first two seasons' big bads, Reverse-Flash and Zoom, weren't all that different. So, why a third one? Executive producer Todd Helbing explains in an interview with IGN.

Regarding why each season's big bad has been a speedster, Helbing says that it gives Barry an enemy on an equal level - something that's difficult with other metahumans. He then teases how Savitar will be different from Reverse-Flash and Zoom. "Savitar is more of a psychological villain in a weird way. I think the Hindu word for Savitar means God of Speed; he's all about speed. Everything about this guy is differen…

Funko Unveils Four LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Pop! Figures

Funko previously tackled DC Television with products based on Arrow, The Flash, Gotham and iZombie. The latest show to get the Pop! treatment is DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Today, Funko's Legion of Collectors has unveiled the (first?) wave of figures based on the series.

Four characters will be given Pop! figures: The Atom, Hawkman, White Canary and Firestorm. All four figures will be released in October, just in time for the premiere of the show's second season. Check out the glam shots below.

And as a bonus, Funko has revealed a new Batgirl Pop! figure, based on the fan-favorite "Batgirl of Burnside" look from The New 52. This figure will be released in September.

Harley Quinn and Deadshot Revealed in Latest INJUSTICE 2 Trailer

NetherRealm Studios has released yet another trailer for Injustice 2, revealing two new playable characters in the game: Harley Quinn (voiced by Tara Strong) and Deadshot. The two villains are the stars of DC Films' latest blockbuster, Suicide Squad, so their inclusion in this video game shouldn't be surprising.

The following trailer features some gameplay footage, showing off Harley and Deadshot taking on other characters in the game. Check out the trailer below, and stay tuned for more as we have it. Injustice 2 will be released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next year.

Adam West and Burt Ward Return in BATMAN: RETURN OF THE CAPED CRUSADERS Animated Movie

Last year, Batman '66 stars Adam West and Burt Ward revealed that they are reprising their roles for a new animated movie, based on the classic television series. Little info was revealed since, other than a planned 2016 release (just in time for the show's 50th anniversary). Now, the movie has been officially announced.

Entertainment Weeklyhas released the teaser trailer for Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders. The animated film will be released on digital download on October 11th, while the Blu-Ray/DVD will debut on November 1st. West and Ward are voicing Batman and Robin, respectively, while Julie Newmar will reprise the role of Catwoman. The trailer also teases Joker, Riddler and Penguin, but voice actors for those characters haven't been announced yet.

Check out the trailer below, and stay tuned for more news as we have it.

Ray Fisher's Cyborg Will Appear in THE FLASH Movie

We saw a glimpse of Victor Stone's transformation into Cyborg in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The character will go on to play a key role in the two Justice League movies, while he will star in his own standalone movie in 2020. Now, Cyborg is popping up in yet another DC film.

Varietyhas confirmed that Ray Fisher will reprise his role as Victor Stone/Cyborg in The Flash movie, which stars Ezra Miller as the titular speedster. The exact size of his role is unknown.

Producer Deborah Snyder previously teased the friendship between Flash and Cyborg, hinting at the latter's role in The Flash. The two will first meet in Justice League, and it makes sense to continue that friendship in at least one of their solo films.

Rick Famuyiwa is directing The Flash, which co-stars Kiersey Clemons as Iris West. Production is expected to begin later this year in London. The movie was previously slated for a March 16th, 2018 release date. However, Warner Bros. recently slated the Tomb Raid…

NBC's POWERLESS Loses its Creator/Showrunner

DC Entertainment's next television show, Powerless, will air on NBC during midseason next year. The workplace comedy centers on an insurance company and its, well, powerless workers in the middle of the DC Universe. The show stars Vanessa Hudgens, Alan Tudyk, Danny Pudi, Christina Kirk and Ron Funches.

However, the series is going to need a new showrunner. It has been announced (via Deadline) that creator, executive producer and showrunner Ben Queen has dropped out of Powerless. The exit is a result of "creative differences" between Queen and Warner Bros. TV.

Production was expected to begin in two weeks, but the start date has been pushed back, as a new showrunner is being sought. However, the delay won't affect the show's premiere, as NBC has yet to finalize its midseason schedule.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it.

AQUAMAN Screenwriter Teases Action Sequences and More

Last month, Will Beall was hired to write the latest draft for Aquaman, based on an "extensive" story treatment by director James Wan and DC Films co-chief Geoff Johns. The screenwriter spoke with /Filmat the Television Critics Association (TCA) tour recently, and inevitably, Aquaman came up.

Regarding the setting of the DC movie's action scenes, Beall reveals that we'll see some action both underwater and on land. "I can tell you that not all of the action takes place underwater. Some of the most fun action in the movie actually takes place on dry land." He then confirms that he's still working on the script with Wan and Johns, and he refuses to comment on the recent reports about Black Manta being the villain.

We'll get to officially meet Aquaman in next year's Justice League movie. Beall is asked if that film's developments will make some Aquaman elements subject to change. He says no, because the creative team for Justice League is also …

SUICIDE SQUAD: THE ALBUM Debuts at #1 on Billboard 200

DC Films' Suicide Squad has been making a lot of money at the box office. The supervillain ensemble is expected to cross $500 million worldwide sometime this week, and it has been the #1 movie in North America for two weeks in a row. But the film's soundtrack is also a big success.

Billboardhas announced that Suicide Squad: The Album has debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The soundtrack was released on August 5th, and in the week ending on the 11th, the album has sold a whopping 182,000 copies. 128,000 of those copies are from traditional album sales. The soundtrack is also #1 on the Top Album Sales Chart.

Suicide Squad: The Album is the first soundtrack in a year to top the Billboard 200. The soundtracks for Pitch Perfect 2 and Disney Channel's Descendants topped the chart last year. Additionally, Suicide Squad has the biggest debut sales week for a soundtrack since Fifty Shades of Grey (210,000).

Billboard will post its complete 200 chart on Tuesday.

SUICIDE SQUAD Retains #1 Spot with $43.8 Million in Second Weekend

Despite negative reviews from critics, Suicide Squad opened with a record-breaking $133.7 million opening last weekend. Now, the DC film is in its second weekend of release, where it had to defend its #1 position from newcomers Sausage Party and Pete's Dragon. How did Suicide Squad fare?

According to The Hollywood ReporterSuicide Squad held on to the top spot this weekend with an estimated $43.8 million gross in North America. The downside? That's a 67% drop from its opening weekend. While it's not as big a second-weekend drop as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (69%), it's bigger than Man of Steel (65%). It's also one of the biggest second-weekend declines for a major comic book movie.

Regardless, Suicide Squad is still doing pretty well at the box office. The film has now grossed $465.4 million worldwide; $222.9 million domestically and $242.5 million internationally. Warner Bros. reportedly spent $325 million to produce and market the movie, so to break eve…

SHAZAM Producer Explains How the Film Fits into the DC Extended Universe

Despite initial confusion, Dwayne Johnson confirmed last year that his Shazam movie will indeed be set in the DC Extended Universe, alongside the rest of Warner Bros.' DC films. We've gotten few updates on the project since, with producer Hiram Garcia most recently saying that a new draft was coming soon, but the film won't be rushed. Now, we have another update, as well as exactly how it relates to the greater DCEU.

Speaking with Newsweek, producer Dany Garcia says that, despite the different creative team and process, Shazam will take place in the same world as Justice League and more. "Shazam! is to live in the same world [as the other films] but we have incredible autonomy over this brand and franchise. We are working with a different team, different producers, directors…it’s a different set-up." The team is able to create the tone and style that they want for the film, and they don't feel constrained by the successes or failures of other DC movies.

THE FLASH Star Ezra Miller Teases "Extremely Fun" DC Film

We'll receive a proper introduction to Ezra Miller's Flash in Justice League, but after that, the Scarlet Speedster is headlining his own film, which reportedly begins production next year in London. Rick Famuyiwa is directing the movie, which will co-star Kiersey Clemons as Iris West. In an interview with MTV News, Miller comments on the tone of The Flash, while praising his director and co-star.

Miller says that the plan is for The Flash to be an "extremely fun" and "deeply human" installment of the DC Extended Universe, and he has nothing but positive things to say about Famuyiwa. "I think there’s just an intention to make something extremely fun and something superhuman and something deeply human. It’s the thing we’re all trying to do, but I think Rick’s mind and his heart are in an excellent place, and his expertise as a filmmaker, as evidenced by Dope, all come together as very exciting factors to me."

Meanwhile, Miller calls Clemons "…

Marc Guggenheim Explains How ARROW Will Utilize Flashbacks After Season 5

Arrow is well known for its incorporation of flashback scenes in almost every episode. Usually, these flashbacks would focus on Oliver Queen's five-year journey before his return to Starling City in season one. However, over the last couple seasons, the flashbacks became uninteresting, especially when there was no connection to the present-day timeline.

Yesterday, it was confirmed that the main flashback storyline will conclude in Arrow's fifth season. However, assuming the show is renewed for season six, flashbacks won't go away forever. In an interview with IGN, executive producer Marc Guggenheim explains.

While the "island narrative" will finish this coming season, Guggenheim says that flashbacks will still be used on Arrow season six. How? "Next year, in Season 6, what we'll end up doing is we'll do some episodes without any sort of flashbacks," he says. "We've [also] established over the first four seasons of proof of concept that w…

The CW Confirms Episode Orders for Next Season's DC Shows

We got plenty of DC television news during The CW's panel at the Television Critics Association (TCA) tour today. Here's another tidbit from the presentation, courtesy of Deadline. However, DC's Legends of Tomorrow (Season 2)only has a 13 episode order for this season, with an option to order more later on. This is three episodes less than the first season's 16 episode order. And finally, iZombie (Season 3), which won't return until midseason, also has a 13 episode order.
