SUPERGIRL Casting Five New Characters for Season 2

Supergirl is moving to The CW for its second season, and it looks to be another big year for Kara Zor-El. It was announced this week that Superman will finally appear in the flesh next season. But Kal-El isn’t the only new character popping up.

According to TV Line, casting is underway for five new characters in Supergirl next season. Two of these characters will be series regular roles, while the other three are recurring. Below is the casting breakdown.

  • The first series regular role is Lena Luthor, aka Lex Luthor’s younger sister. On Supergirl, Lena “…arrives in town to get out from under the shadow of her infamous brother. She’s described as sexy and smart and determined to get what she wants.” However, exactly what she wants is unknown. An actress in the 25-35 age range is being sought.
  • The second series regular role is Nick Farrow, described as a “brash leading man” who butts heads with Kara over at CatCo. As for more details, TV Line explains, “The son of a famous reporter, Nick is ‘looking to make a name for himself in the news world but the question of whether he can leave behind his former selfish and hedonistic ways will constantly arise. In hanging out with Kara, the hero in Nick might finally come out.'”
  • Next, we have The Doctor, the female leader of Project Cadmus. She implants her prisoners with alien tech, and from the sound of it, she’s a villain.
  • Then, there’s Snapper Carr, a journalist hired by Cat Grant to give the news division an old school redesign. However, this version of Carr isn’t to be confused with the Justice League supporting character of the same name.
  • Finally, we have Maggie (Sawyer?), an “out and proud” detective who works at the new Science Police division. This group deals directly with metahumans and aliens.
Expect casting announcements for these roles in the near future. Supergirl returns next fall on The CW.
