Yes, Lex Luthor Will (Probably) Return in JUSTICE LEAGUE

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice served as an origin story for Lex Luthor in the DC Extended Universe. So, despite the polarizing reception to the character, expect to see plenty more of him going forward. And now, actor Jesse Eisenberg suggests that we’ll be seeing his Lex again very soon.

At MCM London Comic-Con (via Digital Spy), Eisenberg said that he will likely reprise his role as Lex Luthor in Justice League, which began production last month. He’s just waiting on that confirmation call. “They just started filming Justice League, so I’m kind of like waiting for my crack at it. I don’t know what I’m allowed to say, because I feel like there’s probably some drone following me from DC, and if I say anything wrong I get, you know, picked off. But yeah I think so, and I love it, and I love everybody who’s in it. You know, it’s a really talented group of people.”

As for how he wants to develop the Lex character in future DC films, Eisenberg says, “I wanted to make these people real and relatable, interesting and engaging, and not just, you know, a kind of surface ‘bad person.'”

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Lex in Justice League. At the end of Batman v Superman, the now bald villain was imprisoned, and he warned Batman that “The bell’s already rung,” and “he” is coming. The “he” being referenced is most likely the Justice League villain, presumably Darkseid. So, it would make sense to further develop this in the next film.

Justice League is scheduled to hit theaters November 17th, 2017. The fifth installment in the DC Extended Universe stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amber Heard, Joe Morton, Willem Dafoe, Jeremy Irons, Jesse Eisenberg and J.K. Simmons. Zack Snyder directs from a script by Chris Terrio.
