KRYPTON Series Nears Pilot at Syfy

[UPDATE: TV Guide Magazine, has confirmed that Syfy has officially greenlit the Krypton pilot.]

After the huge success of Smallville and Gotham, DC Entertainment has decided to give us yet another prequel series. This series will answer the question that’s been on fans minds for years; what was Superman’s grandpa like?

According to TVLine, Syfy is going to move forward with the series, Krypton. The show will be set two generations before the planet’s inevitable destruction, and will focus on Superman’s forefather. TVLine also gives us an idea of what the show’s about saying: “[The] House is El was ostracized and shamed — as he [Grandpa El] fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos.”

David S. Goyer (Man of Steel) and Ian Goldberg (Once Upon A Time) are writing, and Damien Kindler (Sleepy Hollow) will be a showrunner along with Goyer. Colm McCarthy (Doctor Who, Sherlock) will direct the pilot.

Are you interested in this Krypton prequel? Or would you rather focus on the Man of Steel? We’d love to hear your thoughts. For all things DC TV and more, stay tuned.
