DC TV News Bits: ARROW Begins Filming Season 4 Finale, LUCIFER Renewed for Season 2, THE BOYS Are Coming to Cinemax

Arrow showrunner Marc Guggenheim has announced that the show’s season four finale has officially begun production. Titled “Schism,” the episode is written by Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle, based on a story by Greg Berlanti. John Behring is directing. It was previously announced that the episode will air Wednesday, May 25th on The CW.

This will be the final episode of Arrow until the season five premiere, which will be sometime next fall.

Lucifer, based on the Vertigo comic from Sandman lore, premiered on Fox this past midseason. Now, following the season’s success, the network has announced a renewal for season two. The show makes the second current DC/Vertigo series on Fox, alongside Gotham.

Fox’s David Madden had this to say about Lucifer‘s renewal. “We knew we had something special with Lucifer, from the engaging performances of Tom [Ellis], Lauren [German] and the rest of the charismatic cast, to Len Wiseman’s visually stunning look of the show and the amazing storytelling savvy of the [Jerry] Bruckheimer team.” No word on whether the show will move on to the fall schedule or if it’ll stick to the network’s midseason slate.

The Boys Cinemax Series
Ahead of the premiere of AMC’s Preacher, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are bringing another ultra-violent comic book to the small screen. According to Deadline, Garth Ennis’ The Boys will be adapted as a television series on Cinemax. Roben and Goldberg will direct the pilot, which will be written by Eric Kripke.
The Boys had spent several years in development hell as a movie at both Paramount Pictures and Columbia. The comic was originally published by DC’s now-defunct imprint WildStorm, before moving over to Dynamite Entertainment. The story follows a CIA squad who keep watch on the world’s superheroes, many of whom have been corrupted by their celebrity status. If need be, “The Boys” will eliminate them.
