Fox Renews GOTHAM For a Third Season

Television networks are currently in the process of renewing or cancelling their current shows ahead of the 2016-2017 season. Among these, of course, are DC’s multi-network slate of shows. CBS is likely to renew Supergirl, while The CW is bringing back all four of its DC shows – The Flash, Arrow, iZombie and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Now, we have confirmation that Fox’s Gotham will live on for another year.

Fox has announced (via The Hollywood Reporter) that Batman prequel series Gotham has been renewed for season three. The show is currently in the midst of its second season, which has introduced iconic Batman villains such as Dr. Hugo Strange and Mr. Freeze.

Fox Entertainment president David Madden had this to say about Gotham‘s renewal. “It takes a very special team to tell the tales of Gotham. For the past two seasons, Bruno, Danny and John have masterfully honored the mythology of Gotham and brought it to life with depth, emotion and memorable high drama. This incredibly talented cast has redefined these iconic characters for a new generation, and we couldn’t be more proud of this show.”

So, that’s another win for DC’s television slate this season. No word yet on if Fox’s other DC Comics-inspired show, Lucifer, will be renewed. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
