DC Movie News Bits: Christian Bale Talks BATMAN V SUPERMAN, Margot Robbie on Harley Quinn, Booster Gold Creator Talks Nathan Fillion Fancasting

Following Christian Bale’s legendary run as Batman in The Dark Knight Trilogy, Ben Affleck will assume the role in the DC Extended Universe, beginning with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. While Bale’s time as Batman is finished, he still wants to see Batman v Superman…eventually.

Speaking with Yahoo! Movies, Bale says that Dawn of Justice looks “great,” and he shares his intention to watch it sooner or later. “I think it looks great. My little boy really likes watching the trailers online. I think they’ve done a bloody good job. I don’t know that I’ll go see it in the movie theaters, but I’ll certainly see it.”

Bale’s latest film, Knight of Cups, is now playing in theaters.

One of the most anticipated characters in the Suicide Squad movie is Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie. Speaking with Hello Giggles, Robbie comments on her character’s wardrobe. She admits that she tried on multiple iterations of Harley’s costume, including the classic court jester suit. “Oh, we tried on every variation of the costume. I cannot emphasis enough how many outfits, and how many variations of the Harley Quinn costume we tried. We tried the court jester costume, we tried the corset and skirt, we tried leather pants, we tried literally every type of costume possible for her. I really love where we ended up. And who knows, maybe in the sequels we’ll go with the court jester one. I think there’s a world of possibilities.”

Robbie goes on to reveal that director David Ayer’s involvement was what sold her on Suicide Squad, even before she read the script or the comics. “I think [Ayer is] so talented, and to do a comic book movie with a director like David, who is going to make it so dark and cool and different, just to me, that sounded like exactly what I thought they should be doing with comic book movies. I was on board. And you know, fortunately the end product [became] something even better than I could have ever imagined.” Robbie then says that she would “absolutely” sign on for any sequels to Suicide Squad.

A few months ago, actor Nathan Fillion expressed interest in playing DC’s Booster Gold, amidst rumors of a Booster Gold-Blue Beetle movie in development. Since then, Fillion has become a popular choice in fancasting the beloved character. But what does Dan Jurgens, the creator of Booster Gold, have to say about the idea?

At the In-Store Convention Kickoff this weekend (via ComicBook.com), Jurgens was asked about Fillion possibly playing Booster Gold. He replies, “Wouldn’t that be something?” before adding, “I think that I absolutely would, and I would also have a list of probably ten other guys who I’d certainly give a big thumbs-up to. Some of it depends on what is the story you’d ever want to tell? What age is Booster, where exactly are we in his continuum, and what’s the story we want to tell? I’m not saying no!”
