Ben Affleck Has Completed Script for BATMAN Solo Movie

Ever since Ben Affleck was cast as Batman in 2013, fans have expected him to star in and possibly even direct his own solo film. Last summer, it was reported that Affleck will not only direct and star in the movie, he’s also co-writing the script with Geoff Johns.

This has never been confirmed officially by Warner Bros.; however, Affleck expressed interest in directing The Batman (the rumored title) if his schedule allows it, and he confirmed that he’s working on “something” with Johns. Now, we have an update on the standalone movie.

WME’s Patrick Whitesell recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about his client, Affleck. He reaffirms that Affleck is contracted to play Batman in two Justice League movies (plus a cameo in Suicide Squad), and he reveals Affleck has completed a script for the next Batman film. “There’s a script that he’s written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that’s out there as an option.”

Now that a script exists, we should be hearing official updates on this project soon. I wouldn’t be a surprise if a release date for the movie is announced in the near future, hot off the heels of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice‘s box office success. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.
