Advanced Ticket Sales for BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Are Outpacing DEADPOOL and THE AVENGERS

A couple weeks ago, tickets went on sale for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – which finally hits theaters next week! So far, the advanced sales have been doing very well, but we now know exactly how well. In fact, it’s pacing ahead of advanced ticket sales for other recent blockbusters.

According to Deadline, ticket sales for Batman v Superman are outpacing those for Deadpool, Furious 7 and even the first Avengers movie two weeks before their releases. So, far, the DC superhero ensemble has earned somewhere in the $20-25M range from advanced ticket sales. This figure is on par with The Dark Knight Rises, which had a $160.9M opening weekend back in 2012.

For comparison’s sake, 2012’s The Avengers opened with a staggering $207.4M, Furious 7 debuted with $147.1M last year, and Deadpool opened with $132.4M last month.

Deadline compares the advanced ticket sales for Batman v Superman to those of Jurassic World, which opened with $209M, which was then the biggest opening weekend of all time. (Of course, this record was later shattered by Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ $248M debut.)

Last we heard, Batman v Superman was tracking for a $140M opening weekend. However, if these sales are any indication, expect that number to go higher as we draw closer to the film’s release. Personally, I’m expecting it to open in the $160-175M range, if not higher. It will probably surpass the $152M March record held by The Hunger Games. But, only time will tell.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to hit theaters March 25th. The second installment in the DC Extended Universe stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter and Gal Gadot. Zack Snyder directs from a script by Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer.
