BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE News Round-Up

With the release of the December issue of Total Film, we have been getting news details from the cast and director of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice! We are going to post everything we can in this one article. We have news on Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Superman and Aquaman, so let’s get started!

Superman

We’ve seen the Wayne building fall in one of the trailers,  we’ve seen Bruce Wayne run into the cloud and save a little girl from the discussion in Man of Steel, but now we know that this entire scene will be a prologue in Batman v Superman! Actor Henry Cavill explains: “What happens there is one of Bruce’s buildings gets destroyed and he’s trying to save all the people inside the building and he can’t, So he is this angry person who fears what Superman may do. Why are they just going to trust this super-powered alien? What if he does decide to turn against us? Ben Affleck also chimes in on the subject. “He’s found himself [Batman] in a place of harboring a tremendous amount of rage for Superman. So it’s how he got there, and what that’s done to him, and what that’s done to people around him like Alfred, who are, I think, very scared and worried for him. It’s something that’s interesting and new.”

We also find out that the TV series Krypton is a Man of Steel prequel, for more details on that click here.

Wonder Woman
In an interview with Total Film, actress Gal Gadot opened up about the first time she whore the Wonder Woman outfit and the first time the trinity were together. “It was crazy! You don’t do fittings together. You do them separately. But the first time they shot the trio, it was almost magical. On the one hand, when you think about it realistically, it’s kind of weird to stand there, all three of us as superheroes. And then, when we started to shoot, Ben became Batman, Henry became Superman, and I became Wonder Woman. I can’t even express in words how excited I was. When asked about shooting the first ever wonder Woman movie, Gadot replied: “It feels amazing, but for some reason, I feel like it’s not for me. The Wonder Woman is a story that needs to be told. I’m so happy it’s me to tell that story. I think there is no better time than now, and it’s about time we showed this amazing heroine on the big screen.

Aquaman
When actor Jason Momoa went to Dallas Comic-Con he was asked about his take on the Aquaman character. Of course he didn’t go into to much detail, but he did say he has been reading Geoff Johns’ ‘New 52’ run on Aquaman. “So, there’s not really a lot of spoilers I can give away. But the research I’ve done on the New 52 stuff with Geoff Johns, and just researching who he is, he’s amazing. He’s got a lot of powers. He’s extremely tough. He’s super strong. But I’m excited about… there’s a big beautiful map laid out and I wish I could carry it with me. It’ll come out soon enough and you’ll see just how big it’s going to be.” Momoa also told fans to keep an open mind when asked about the new direction of the character.
Lex Luthor

In an interview with Total Film, actor Jesse Eisenberg spoke about what he is bringing to the role of Lex Luthor: “He is a lot of the things we know (already) about the character. It’s a very modern take on his otherwise historic and iconic character. He has a, I would say, recognizably modern psychology, whether it’s being used to charm or destroy.” Esienberg went on to mention working with Ben Affleck in thE film. “It’s strange acting with people like Ben Affleck, having to condescend to someone like him. Off set, you’re thinking of this person is reverential terms, and then on set I condescending him, really quite nasty…
Zack Snyder says that they looked at the “usual suspects” when they were casting the role of Lex Luthor (meaning someone like Bryan Cranston). Once Eisenberg was cast Chris Terrio tweaked the script to better suit the younger take on the character.
Well that is a lot to take in. We have learned so much, and yet know so little about Batman v Superman. Stay tuned for more information as it comes.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters March 25th, 2016.
