New Imagery for THE FLASH and ARROW Tease the Arrivals of Jay Garrick and…Green Lantern?

The new season premieres for The Flash and Arrow are only a month away, and the marketing campaigns for both shows should ramp up very soon. Earlier this week, The CW released a new promo image for The Flash, showing an electrifying new look at Jay Garrick’s helmet. The new season premieres October 6th on The CW.

Over on the Arrow side of things, executive producer Marc Guggenheim has shared a new piece of production art, which is an advertisement for Coast City. We already knew that the city will factor in to the show’s flashbacks this season – possibly present day scenes too? – but the ad’s tagline is particularly intriguing. Green Lantern fans should immediately recognize it.
Both Arrow and The Flash have been referencing Coast City and Ferris Air frequently. In fact, on the latter series, it was mentioned that a Ferris Air test pilot disappeared, leading to much speculation that it was Hal Jordan. Despite all of these hints and Easter eggs, Guggenheim admitted that it was unlikely for Green Lantern to appear in this universe, with the character set to play a key role in the DC Extended Universe.
Still, this Coast City ad is a very blatant reference to the Green Lantern mythos, and usually when there are multiple references for something, whatever is teased ends up happening – unless you’re Ted Kord. But this could also just be a fun little Easter egg; nothing more, nothing less.
Stay tuned for more news as we have it. Arrow returns to The CW on October 7th.
