Rumor: Common and Scott Eastwood’s Characters in SUICIDE SQUAD Revealed

Production on Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad is well underway, but there are still a few mysteries regarding its ensemble cast. Actors Common and Scott Eastwood have joined, but their exact characters have been unknown.

Eastwood has been rumored to play Steve Trevor – a role WB offered him a chance to screentest for, but he opted for a more secure role in Suicide Squad. The latter came with a three-picture contract, so whoever he’s playing, it should be an interesting recurring role for the DC Cinematic Universe. As for Common, the actor – who was once attached to play Green Lantern John Stewart in George Miller’s Justice League: Mortal – was rumored to be Aquaman villain Black Manta.

Now, a new rumor may finally reveal which characters the two actors are playing, courtesy of Heroic Hollywood. Apparently, one actor’s role confirms previous fan speculation, while the other’s character sounds very exciting. Who are they? Find out below.

So, according to Heroic Hollywood, Common is indeed playing Abel Tarrant, aka the Tattooed Man. This is a surely obscure character in DC Comics lore. Tarrant, who is usually a Green Lantern villain, has the ability to manipulate the living tattoos on his body. I find it ironic that Common was originally cast as a Green Lantern, and now, he’s playing an obscure Green Lantern enemy.
Next, we have Scott Eastwood’s rumored role. The actor was spotted in military garb on set, and apparently, the name on his uniform is being “fiercely” protected. However, one of Heroic Hollywood’s sources apparently saw the name: S. Wilson. Of course, this can only mean Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke
Wilson has been rumored to be a part of the film for months. Joe Manganiello was said to be playing the character, but negotiations broke down. In fact, Manganiello said that Deathstroke was not the role he was in talks for. Then, Jim Parrack was linked to the role, but it looks like he is playing Jonny Frost instead. Hopefully, third time’s the charm with Eastwood.

Heroic Hollywood then speculates that Wilson will not yet be Deathstroke early in Suicide Squad, but he could evolve into the persona by the film’s end. The site cautions to take all of this info with a pinch of salt. Hopefully, we’ll receive official confirmation sooner than later.
Suicide Squad is scheduled to hit theaters August 5th, 2016. The third installment in the DC Cinematic Universe stars Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Karen Fukuhara, Jim Parrack, Adam Beach, Common, Scott Eastwood, Viola Davis and Jared Leto. David Ayer writes and directs.
