Captain Boomerang Speaks: Jai Courtney on SUICIDE SQUAD

Though he broke into acting ten years ago, Australian born Jai Courtney's career has picked up momentum recently with roles in Jack Reacher and The Water Diviner.   Later this month he takes on the role of Kyle Reese Terminator Genisys opposite Game of Throne's Emilia Clarke and Arnold Schwarzenegger but DC Fans will soon know him as Captain Boomerang in 2016's Suicide Squad

A reporter for The Spotlight Report spoke with Courtney on the press tour for Genisys and managed to get a few words about David Ayer's Suicide Squad.  Like some of the other actors involved in the film, one of the major selling points for Courtney was Ayer's involvement.  Courtney states that Ayer is "a stickler for authenticity. So I think what we’re going to create is going to be really, really cool."

Courtney explains that he was concerned by the nature of the role at first: "To be honest, when he told me that the role of Captain Boomerang was what he was thinking, I kind of cringed. ‘Cause I wasn’t a comic book kid. I wasn’t familiar with the DC universe and the history of that’. So I knew nothing about it. And I was, like, ‘Oh, god, Captain Boomerang…Really?…I really don’t know how Australians will react to this.’"  However his confidence in Ayer's ability has him confident in their ability to do the character justice.

When the talk turned to Jared Leto's performance as the Joker, Courtney could only say "It's out there, man."

Jai Courtney plays Captain Boomerang in Suicide Squad. In theaters August 5th, 2016.
