GOTHAM Casts Cannibalistic Villain for Season Two

With production on Gotham's second season underway, we have more casting news regarding a new villain for the show. According to Zap2it, Battle Creek actor Dustin Ybarra is set to play Robert Greenwood, an Arkham Asylum patient who is a cannibal. This will be a recurring role for the season.

Greenwood, who appears to be an original creation for the show, is described as "a homicidal cannibal currently locked up in Arkham Asylum for the Criminally Insane after he was found guilty of murdering and eating more than a dozen women. ... His appetite for murder is only surpassed by, well, his appetite." This guy sounds like quite the charmer.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it. Gotham returns to Fox on September 21st.

Warner Bros. Moves Vertigo Films to New Line Cinema; JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK Going Forward Without Guillermo del Toro

With Warner Bros. focused on creating its DC Cinematic Universe, there have been some questions by fans regarding potential Vertigo adaptations, such as Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Sandman. How would these films fit in with the rest of the studio's comic book plans? Now, we have an answer.

According to Deadline, WB is moving its Vertigo movies, such as Sandman, over to sister studio New Line Cinema. Warners will continue to work on the mainstream DC films, which will feature Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and the rest of the Justice League. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Shazam will still be developed by New Line, despite that movie being expected to eventually cross over into the DCCU.

THR also has both good and bad news surrounding the Justice League Dark film, which is also being called Dark Universe. The movie will still be stationed at WB, rather than New Line, even though some of the characters previously came from Vertigo. The film will take notes fr…

The last update we heard on TNT's Titans, the potential series was targeting a summer 2015 production start date, with casting news to come even sooner. However, it looks like the DC Comics adaptation - rumored to be titled Blackbirds - has hit another delay.

According to Season Zero, production on Titans has been pushed to October of this year. It is expected to film in Toronto. However, the site says that the pilot is "still very much in the mix," despite the delay. For the summer, TNT is focused on filming its Animal Kingdom pilot in Los Angeles.

The Titans (Blackbirds?) pilot is expected to star Dick Grayson (who is transitioning into the role of Nightwing), Barbara Gordon, Raven, Starfire, Hawk and Dove. Hopefully, the potential series will move forward sooner than later. Stay tuned for more news as we have it.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt Talks SANDMAN Creative Challenges

With series like The Walking Dead, The Flash and Arrow as examples of a leap in quality for books and comic-book adaptations on television this decade, it was almost surprising that producer Joseph Gordon-Levitt decided to take Neil Gaiman's Sandman on as a movie project.
Recently, Levitt took to reddit for an "Ask Me Anything" for the second season of his hitRECORD series when he asked why he chose film instead of television. The questioner pointed out the "large scope and episodic nature" of the original comic run then asked if this would make the series better suited for the long-form storytelling nature of television. Levitt had this to say: "I think a big screen adaptation is a better idea and here's why. If you did the episodic version, I think it could very well end up as a not-as-good-version of what is already brilliant in the comics, but by reworking the material into a big movie, Gaiman's brilliant characters and ideas get to take shape in…

Grant Gustin Teases New Big Bad for THE FLASH Season Two

The Flash has one of the greatest rogues galleries in comic book history, and the first season of The CW's show utilized many of them. From Reverse-Flash and Captain Cold to Grodd and Weather Wizard, The Flash featured many memorable villains right off the bat. And, especially after the stunning season finale, anticipation is high for what season two will offer.

Fortunately, we won't have to wait for long to see who the new big bad is. Speaking with Colliderat the Saturn Awards - where he won the prize for "Breakthrough Performance Award" - series star Grant Gustin reveals that The Flash will introduce its season two villain within the first few episodes. "We’re introducing a really cool big bad that’s going to be revealed kind of immediately."

Gustin also confirms that The Flash will appear in the opening episodes of DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Since he was seen in the promo trailer last month, it's not surprising that Barry Allen will guest star in…

Find Out When Warner Bros.' San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Panel Takes Place

Warner Bros.' panel at San Diego Comic-Con this year is expected to be full of DC movie goodness. Next year's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad will dominate the panel, while Wonder Woman and Justice League are also expected to be present. Rumor has it that the new Green Lantern will be unveiled as well, along with the full Justice League lineup. Today, SDCC has released its schedule for Saturday, July 11th, and WB's name is listed.

Warner Bros.' panel will last from 10:30 AM to 12 PM, a whopping 90 minute presentation. The description reads, "A 'sneak peek' at a few upcoming releases from Warner Bros." And...that's literally all there is to know right now.

Of course, WB's panel likely won't entirely focus on DC projects; the studio will probably showcase films it is releasing later this year (such as Pan and The Man From UNCLE) and/or at least one other 2016 offering (such as Tarzan). WB has had excellent presentations…

DC Movie News Bits: Tyrese Again Shares Desire to Play GREEN LANTERN + Jared Leto's Bizarre SUICIDE SQUAD Gifts

For months, Tyrese Gibson has been campaigning to play Green Lantern John Stewart in the DC Cinematic Universe. Much of it has been fueled by fan-made images of him as the Emerald Knight. Recently, it was rumored that the new Justice League and Green Lantern films will feature both Stewart and Hal Jordan. Could Tyrese have a shot at landing the former role?

The actor-musician once again spoke about Green Lantern in an interview with ET Online. "There are certain things I can't speak on," he says, before reaffirming that this "campaign" was spawned by the fan manipulations. Tyrese adds, "I've been a fan of the Green Lantern. I took the oath, and I had a meeting at Warner Bros. and certain things were said and talked about. We'll just see what happens."

The fact that he met with WB about Green Lantern certainly indicates his desire for the role. However, if Tyrese was in fact playing John Stewart, then he probably wouldn't be allowed to tal…

Jessica Lucas Cast as DC Villainess Tigress in GOTHAM Season Two

Yesterday, it was announced that Gotham had cast actor James Frain as villain Theo Galavan for season two. It was also revealed that casting was underway for Theo's sister, Tabitha, aka Tigress. Now, the show has filled the antagonistic role.

According to TV Line, Gracepoint actress Jessica Lucas is set to play Tigress in this season of Gotham. The character is said to be "the lead enforcer for her brother Theo, a billionaire industrialist hell-bent on taking over Gotham. Described as sexy and violent — and toting a bullwhip! — she’s the opposite of her cold and calculating brother, deriving a sensual pleasure from the mayhem she’s tasked with making."

The identity of Tigress was adopted by several characters in DC Comics lore, including Young Justice favorite Artemis Crock. However, 'Tabitha Galavan' looks to be an original character created for the show.

Stay tuned for more news as we have it. Gotham returns to Fox on September 21st.

Angela Bassett Reflects on GREEN LANTERN's Failure and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller

Green Lantern was set to be the start of a DC Cinematic Universe for Warner Bros., but its critical and commercial failure in 2011 led to the studio reevaluating its plans. Man of Steel ended up being the official launch of the DCCU, with a dozen more movies expected to follow over the next few years. The Green Lantern movie will be completely ignored, with a reboot set for a 2020 release. The character is also expected to appear in at least one of the two Justice League films.

Despite the original Green Lantern being a flop, one actress still has fond memories of making it. Speaking with IGN, Angela Bassett, who played Amanda Waller in the movie, looks back on the production and how it didn't connect with audiences. "You know, I enjoyed working on that. Of course you wish it had been bigger and more successful. But you just don't know...I mean I know we put a lot of work in and I thought it was well done. You know, well-directed, acted, and cast. But, you never know what…

Jeffrey Dean Morgan Refuses to Confirm Role in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

During the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice production last year, a mysterious painting was spotted on set. The painting shows a man who looks a lot like Jeffrey Dean Morgan, sparking rumors that the actor could be playing the late Thomas Wayne, aka Batman's father. Could this painting be shown in one or more scenes set in Wayne Manor? Perhaps.

Now, Morgan has weighed in on that rumor. Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (transcription via CBM), the actor was asked if that was really him in the painting. He says, "I think you have to go watch the movie to see if that's me. That looks a lot like me, man."

If Morgan was not involved with Batman v Superman at all, then he could have just outright denied the rumors. But the fact that he is playing coy about it suggests there's more than meets the eye. Morgan did work with director Zack Snyder before on Watchmen, so it's not surprising to think the two would reunite for this film. And of course, any role Thomas Wa…

More Rumored Details on JUSTICE LEAGUE's Green Lanterns; Chris Pine to Play Hal Jordan After All?

Last night, we heard a rumor suggesting that the next Green Lantern film will star more than one human Lantern. Fans have been debating back-and-forth on whether Hal Jordan or John Stewart should lead the movie, but now, it looks like it'll be both. While the two will apparently be in the Green Lantern reboot, will both of them also be in Justice League, or just one? Another rumor answers this question, while also reviving an old casting rumor.

According to Latino-Review, Warner Bros. intends to bring out its entire Justice League lineup at San Diego Comic-Con next month. This lineup will apparently include Green Lantern Hal Jordan...AND John Stewart. Yes, the site claims that both Lanterns will be in Justice League. There will likely be a plot reason explaining the presence of both. Maybe Stewart is a back-up Lantern for Jordan when he's on the Justice League? Or are they from two different sectors? We'll see.

Naturally, if the two Green Lanterns will be announced at Com…

Next BATMAN Movie Reportedly Set for 2018 Release; Ben Affleck to Direct?

In addition to the DC movie lineup announced last fall, Warner Bros. said that new solo films for Batman and Superman would be released within the 2016-2020 timeframe. It was previously rumored that the former, titled The Batman, was targeting a 2019 release, but that was never verified. Now, however, a new report suggests that we could see Batman's next solo adventure even sooner.

According to Latino-Review, The Batman is now targeting a November 2018 theatrical release. Ben Affleck will direct and star in the movie, which will be written by Chris Terrio. Terrio rewrote Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and he is attached to write the two-part Justice League saga. So, it looks like he will be very busy over the next couple years. Also, Marvel Studios has its Captain Marvel film slotted for November 2018, so if this rumor is true, then it appears Carol Danvers will be facing competition from the Dark Knight himself.

Colliderhas weighed in on this report with word from its own so…

Rumor: Will The GREEN LANTERN Reboot Star Multiple Green Lanterns?

So far, Warner Bros. has cast six of the seven members of its big screen Justice League. The missing member is Green Lantern, who will headline a film reboot in 2020. There has been much speculation regarding which character will don the ring. Will it be Hal Jordan, who starred in the critically panned Green Lantern film from 2011? Or will it be John Stewart, a favorite among fans?

While Jordan has been the Lantern most frequently seen in recent Justice League comics, animation and merch, Stewart was recently rumored to be the one we'll see in 2017's Justice League Part One and beyond. Additionally, WB apparently does have film or television plans for Stewart. Now, a new rumor suggests which character(s) will be the focus of the next Green Lantern movie.

According to Collider, the Green Lantern reboot will focus on more than one human Lantern. Hal Jordan, John Stewart and Guy Gardner are specifically mentioned as characters who could star in this new film. It could be all thr…
