Highlights From THE FLASH WonderCon 2015 Panel: ARROW Guest Stars, Spin-Off Series, Season 2 Villains and More

The Flash held its WonderCon 2015 panel today, and members of the cast and crew were present. Following the screening of a trailer teasing the rest of the season, a Q&A session was held, and some interesting new details for upcoming episodes were revealed. What roles will Arrow guest stars Ray Palmer and Laurel Lance have? Will Caitlin and Cisco become their comic book alter egos of Killer Frost and Vibe, respectively? How will The Flash set up the “superhero team-up” spin-off series? Which villains could appear in season two? All that and more below. Many thanks to Comic Book Resources for rounding up the following info.

[Warning: The Following Contains SPOILERS From Recent and Upcoming Episodes of The Flash.]

-In the next episode of The Flash, Felicity Smoak and Ray Palmer will visit Central City to get help in perfecting the Atom suit. Of course, who better to go to for help than Cisco Ramon and STAR Labs? In the episode, Felicity also notices something is wrong with Barry Allen, who has finally figured out that Harrison Wells is the Reverse-Flash.

-The episode after that will feature two more Arrow guest stars, as Cisco and Joe West will be visiting Starling City. There, they interact with Quentin and Laurel Lance. Fans of Black Canary will be pleased to know that Cisco will help Laurel create a new version of the Canary Cry. According to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, this Canary Cry will be used very similarly to the version seen in the comics.

-Talk then turned to the inevitability of Iris West discovering that Barry is The Flash, and the crew says that the reveal will be “a good one.” Meanwhile, Caitlin Snow actress Danielle Panabaker suggests that it won’t be long before the character begins her arc to become the villainess Killer Frost, saying, “You’re going to see her sooner than you think.” As for whether Cisco will become the superhero Vibe, actor Carlos Valdes says that he is focused primarily on what is being filmed right now, but he adds “I can’t say there’s anything in the future, but I certainly hope so.”

-Episode 20 of the season, which is titled “The Trap,” will feature flashbacks from when Barry was in his post-accident coma.  Kreisberg says, “It’s fun and interesting to see everybody back then — see Caitlin be not quite the Caitlin we know, the origins of how Barry got transferred to S.T.A.R. Labs, Iris and Joe… it’s a really fun episode.” Sounds like we will also see the beginning of Iris’s relationship with Eddie Thawne.

-Following the success of Arrow and The Flash, The CW is planning an untitled team-up series featuring characters from both shows. Atom, Captain Cold and Heat Wave, among others, will return, while the spin-off will introduce new characters such as Hawkgirl and Rip Hunter. When asked what to expect, Kreisberg says, “It’s going to be like the crossovers every week. It’s going to be gonzo.” He adds that, if Arrow is a gritty crime drama and The Flash has heart and humor, the spin-off will be “insanity and off the rails.” Additionally, the next seasons of Flash and Arrow will both set-up this new series.

-Speaking of Flash‘s second season, there were inevitably questions about who could appear. Kreisberg suggests that we could be seeing a couple of fan-favorite villains. “I think we definitely want to meet the Mirror Master next year. I’m sure Dr. Alchemy will show up at some point. And we’ve got one thing that hopefully people will lose their minds over.” The crew previously suggested that Wally West could appear someday, and Kreisberg reaffirms, “I wouldn’t be surprised if one day you see Wally West on the show.” Finally, when asked if a character like the Black Flash could appear, Kreisberg says anything from the Flash comics could show up in the television show. “If there’s something that existed in the Flash universe, no matter how crazy or how silly, there’s a good chance it’ll be on the show.”

There is plenty more that was talked about at WonderCon, including a potential Barry/Caitlin romance, which other CW shows the cast want to cross over with and that crazy Reverse-Flash twist from last week’s episode. For all that and more, click the link above.
