Will Arnett, Chris Miller and Phil Lord Talk THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE

Last fall, when Warner’s slate of big tent films was announced
most of us looked excitedly at the birth of a DC Cinematic Universe built
around 2016’s Batman v Superman, but
many were just as excited to see not only a sequel to the hit Lego Movie but a spin-off as well.  The
Lego Batman Movie
is set to hit theaters in 2017 and production is well
under way.
Mtv News caught up with co-writers and directors Phil Lord
and Chris Miller, as well as Batman himself, Will Arnett and got some news from
the trio.  When asked about the movie’s
progress all three were excited to discuss some of what they had already seen
of the animation.  Lord called the action
in the movie “Incredible
and “Impressive.”
Arnett agreed, saying; “The first bit that I’ve seen was mind-boggling.
Mtv asked about something Miller told Empire Magazine, that
they intend to refer to and honor every era of Batman Cinema; from West to Bale
and perhaps even Affleck.  Mtv asked
about the possibility of those men appearing in the film but all three were
quick to move away from anything that might be spoilers.
Arnett did say that the film’s focus is the question
“Can Batman be happy?”  He then
told the reporter that the answer isn’t as simple as one might think.  They joked that a bit about the absurdity of a
man as rich and powerful as Bruce Wayne having problems but it was in good fun.
The Lego Movie was
a well-loved hit last year and judging by the fun these three are having
talking about Lego Batman it’s easy
to have a good feeling the film come February 2017.
