THE FLASH Gets A Full Season Order At The CW

Today it was reported at The Hollywood Reporter that The CW
has ordered an addition ten episodes for season one of The Flash, bringing the episodes total to 23.

Network President, Mark Pedowitz made the announcement about
Flash and their other new hit series Jane
the Virgin
and had this to say: “We
have had a fantastic start to our season this year, with
The Flash
launching as our most-watched series premiere ever
.” Both shows have
received strong praise from critics and audiences alike and have drawn great
numbers.

Pedowitz then made it clear that their new hits are part of
the CW’s commitment to quality programing.
Over the past three seasons,
we have made it our mission to grow and to broaden out our audience, and to
keep raising the bar with the quality and impact of our new shows, and
The Flash and Jane have both exceeded our expectations on all
counts. I’m thrilled to announce full season orders for both of these terrific
new series.

The CW began developing The
Flash
in July of 2013 and it has been one of their most marketed shows
ever.  The debut pulled in a total of 6.1
million viewers after an initial broadcast audience of 4.2 million.  The audience for the second episode
“Fastest Man Alive” pulled in 4.27 million viewers at initial
broadcast. (zap2it)

With the strong performance of Arrow and  The Flash it is speculated that a third
series in the “CW-Verse” could be on the way.  While that still remains to be seen, this
quick pick up is a good sign for the continued partnership between DC
Entertainment and the CW.
