About Those DC Movie Website Domains...

Yesterday, after I did some digging, a slew of website domains for several DC Comics film adaptations registered by Warner Bros. went viral. This is understandable, given the expectation of at least some DC movies being announced soon. However, most of these domains are old, and without any further updates by WB, they will expire within the next couple years.

Firstly, both ShazamMovie.comand AquamanMovie.comwere originally registered back in 2000. While movies for both characters are in the works, these domains have existed years before the films entered development. So, even though both movies are expected to be released soon, these domains aren't proof of that. Both domains are expected to expire later this year, unless they are updated.

Likewise, in 1999, Warner Bros registered the WonderWomanTheMovie.comdomain. Several different iterations of a Wonder Woman movie had been in development for the past decade or more, so it's unsurprising that the studio would lock down a we…

ARROW Season 3 Casts Two More Characters As Liam Neeson Seeks To Reprise Ra's al Ghul Role

A couple more additions to the cast of Arrow's third season were made this week. First up, The Hollywood Reporterreveals that Glee actor Nolan Funk will guest star in the episode "The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak," which will finally reveal Felicity's past. Funk will play her "hacker boyfriend" from her time at MIT, Cooper Seldon. Yeah, that does sound a lot like The Big Bang Theory's Sheldon Cooper. It's unknown if Seldon will appear in the flashback portions of the episode or the present day portions, if not both.

Meanwhile, Arrow has added yet another villain to its highly anticipated third season. According to Entertainment Weekly, Supernatural's Amy Gumenick has been cast as DC villainess Carrie Cutter, aka Cupid. The character was created by executive producer Andrew Kreisberg during his run on the Green Arrow/Black Canary comic series. Cupid is described as "a lethal villainness with a dangerously obsessive crush on The Arrow.&qu…

Lynda Carter Shares Her Thoughts On Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman Costume

While there was plenty of mixed reception to the news that Gal Gadot will play Diana Prince in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, former Wonder Woman Lynda Carter previously voiced her support for the casting, as well as the fact that the iconic character is finally making her big screen debut. And now, the actress most people associate with Wonder Woman has weighed in on Gadot's costume, which is noticeably different from the iconic suit.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Carter was inevitably asked about her thoughts on Wonder Woman's costume for Dawn of Justice. While she would have liked to see more color in the image released during San Diego Comic-Con, she admits that she needs to see more before forming a proper opinion. Carter then shares her optimism for the character finally being given a proper depiction and praises the Batman v Superman crew for deciding to include her. "Well, I was missing the red, white and blue, I have to say. ... I don't know. I …

Jesse Eisenberg Discusses Playing Lex Luthor In BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, Joining The Comic Book Movie Craze And More

While Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has included some of the most talked-about castings in recent comic book movie history, arguably the most unexpected choice was Jesse Eisenberg's landing the role of Lex Luthor. While the Zombieland star is a great actor, many have not been sold on the idea of the Oscar nominee playing Superman's greatest villain. While we have a while to wait before we get an idea of what Eisenberg's Luthor will be like, the actor has offered some intriguing new details for his take on the character.

Speaking with Total Film (via Comic Book Movie), Eisenberg is inevitably asked about playing Lex Luthor. He affirms that he did not take the role simply for financial reasons, and he recalls initially being offered the part. "My father always cautions me against thinking of something as a means to some other end, because then its irresponsible to the 'means' thing. They asked me if I wanted to play the part before they sent me the script.…

THE WOLVERINE's Rila Fukushima Replaces Devon Aoki As ARROW's Katana

While 2 Fast 2 Furious' Devon Aoki was initially cast as Katana for Arrow's third season, the actress has now dropped out of the role due to scheduling conflicts. According to Deadline, she has been replaced by The Wolverine actress Rila Fukushima. In the X-Men spin-off, Fukushima played Yukio, an assassin who ended up being one of the film's most memorable characters. Now, she will be playing Tatsu Yamashiro in a key recurring role for Season 3 of Arrow.

The CW series' version of Katana will be featured only in the flashback portions (for now). She will serve as one of Oliver's mentors during his time in Hong Kong, and she has a significant influence on his evolution into The Arrow. Katana is a DC character that has been featured a little more prominently in recent projects - such as the New 52 Justice League of America comic and the Beware the Batman animated series - so it makes sense that she is one of the latest additions to the growing world of Arrow. The hi…

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE's Henry Cavill and Amy Adams Participate In The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge!

The viral phenomenon known as the "ALS Ice Bucket Challenge" has arrived on the set of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. In the past couple of weeks, director Zack Snyder and stars Ben Affleck (Batman) and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) participated in the challenge, which involves people getting nominated by their friends, family, co-workers, etc. to pour a bucket of ice water on their heads to raise awareness for the deadly disease known as ALS (aka "Lou Gehrig's disease"). Recently, stars from the film, Henry Cavill (Clark Kent/Superman) and Amy Adams (Lois Lane) were nominated to participate (Cavill by several people, and Adams by her fiancee Darren Le Gallo), and like the good sports that they are, they kindly accepted the challenge. What sets these co-stars' challenge apart from other members of the film's cast and crew is the fact that they're actually in costume on the film's set while they get soaked, which if you ask me, is pretty neat. …

FEATURE: Five Actors Who Should Be Considered To Play Darkseid In The DC Cinematic Universe

Darkseid is without a doubt one of the most powerful villains in the DC Universe. He has frequently fought not only Superman, but he is also a credible antagonist for the Justice League. Despite this, the ruler of Apokolips has yet to receive a proper live action portrayal. He served as the big bad for the final season of Smallville, while Superman Returns director Bryan Singer stated that Darkseid was to be the villain of the now-defunct sequel. The character is widely expected to be the main foe in the Justice League movie, which is likely targeting a 2017 release. However, recent reports suggest that Darkseid will be saved for the second film in the series. And of course, there's the big question: Who should play Darkseid on the big screen? Below, I list five actors who should be considered when casting the ruler of Apokolips.

#5 - Mickey Rourke
Rourke is no stranger to the comic book movie genre. He plays Marv in Sin City and the recently released sequel, A Dame to Kill For, w…

Scoot McNairy Talks Joining BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE And Interest In DC Universe Role

A couple months ago, Scoot McNairy was cast in an unspecified role for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. More recently, the Argo actor was spotted on the set of the Justice League prequel wearing green mo-cap socks, leading to more speculation concerning his character. The most popular theory is that McNairy is playing The Flash, who is rumored to be making a cameo in Batman v Superman. Metallo is another option, while many have suggested that he is merely playing a character with damaged legs who blames Superman for the Metropolis' destruction in Man of Steel. Personally, I like the idea of McNairy playing someone related to STAR Labs. Perhaps he has feet composed of nanotechnology, which could then lead to Cyborg, who is also making an appearance in the movie. Professor Ivo, perhaps?

Anyways, McNairy spoke with Schmoes Knowrecently, and unsurprisingly, Batman v Superman came up. The actor discusses how he landed the undisclosed role, and even though he is reuniting with Argo

Pierce Brosnan Reflects On Meeting With Tim Burton To Play Batman

Before Michael Keaton was cast as the Dark Knight for 1989's Batman, several high-profile actors were in contention for the coveted role. Among these were Pierce Brosnan, who would later go on to play James Bond in several films. Now, he looks back on his initial meeting to play Batman and why he wasn't sold on the concept.

During a RedditAMA, Brosnan recalls meeting with director Tim Burton for the role of one of the greatest superheroes of all time. "Yes, I did. I went and met with Tim Burton for the role of Batman. But I just couldn't really take it seriously, any man who wears his underpants outside his pants just cannot be taken seriously. That was my foolish take on it. It was a joke, I thought. But how wrong was I? Don't get me wrong, because I love Batman, and I grew up on Batman. As a kid in Ireland, we used to get our raincoats and tie them round our neck and swing through the bicycle shed..."

Of course, Batman was among the films that made others…

New Villains Cast For ARROW Season 3, THE FLASH And CONSTANTINE

DC television shows Arrow, The Flash and Constantine have cast a slew of new villains for each of their respective seasons. First up, we have another exciting new addition to Arrow's third season. According to Entertainment Weekly, TRON: Legacy actor Matt Ward is set to play Komodo/Simon Lacroix. This villain was recently introduced in Jeff Lemire's critically acclaimed Green Arrow run for the New 52. Arrow's version of Lacroix is described as "a deadly mercenary using the code name Komodo, who wreaks havoc in Starling City." Executive producer Marc Guggenheim weighs in, revealing that while Komodo himself may not play a huge role in the season, he will be more connected to the year's overall storyline than past "villains of the week." "Yes, he’s the villain-of-the-week for the second week of the show, but you’ll see that Team Arrow’s pursuit of him is part and parcel of a season-long storyline. You’re going to know what happens to Komodo at t…

Don't Expect Green Lantern To Appear In BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

It's no secret that several superheroes are set to debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to directly lead into the Justice League movie. In addition to its two titular heroes, Wonder Woman is set to have a supporting role, while Aquaman and Cyborg are expected to make cameos. The Flash is said to be a lock for an appearance as well. And now, a new report substantiates that claim and tells us who not to expect in the Justice League prequel.

Badass Digesthas posted an article covering speculation for Scoot McNairy playing The Flash in Batman v Superman, which was generated from the actor being seen wearing green mo-cap socks on set. Personally, I think it's a stretch to assume that McNairy is playing Flash based on that alone, as it could easily be a character whose legs are damaged. Regardless, the site's sources reaffirm that the Fastest Man Alive will indeed be in the movie, and the League's lineup by the end of the film will consist of Superman, Batman, Wonder …

Dwayne Johnson Confirms Involvement With SHAZAM Movie - But Is He Playing Shazam Or Black Adam?

Dwayne Johnson has been teasing his role in a DC Entertainment film for several months, recently more or less confirming that he's involved with the Shazam movie. And now, he reaffirms that he will be in the film, but who exactly will he play? Speaking with Mexican site La Nacion, The Rock reiterated his involvement with Shazam, but he's undecided on whether he will play the titular superhero or the villainous Black Adam. "It's the story of Shazam, but I can not say now if (my role) is Shazam [or] Black Adam. We've been developing for some time and have been a fan of anti-heroes. A this particular I think that we will make justice. I'm putting my heart and soul into this role." This translation is from Google, so it doesn't read 100% perfectly. However, Johnson's comment on his love for anti-heroes, as well as the fact that Black Adam is one of his favorite characters, seem to suggest that he is leaning towards the role of Teth-Adams.

Johnson the…

Olga Kurylenko Addresses Contention For Wonder Woman Role In BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE

Before Gal Gadot was cast as Wonder Woman for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and future DC films last year, there were a handful of other actresses in contention for the highly coveted role. Oblivion's Olga Kurylenko and G.I. Joe: Retaliation's Elodie Yung were up for the part, and now, we've heard from the former on coming close to playing the biggest superheroine of all time. Speaking with Desde Hollywood, Kurylenko was asked about her contention for the Wonder Woman role. She admits that she isn't terribly disappointed over not being cast, and she wishes Gadot the best. "If I could have been [Wonder Woman]? Well, because, everyone was saying that it was a possibility. It did crossed my mind. But it’s fine, you know. There are many other roles. Ben Affleck Talks BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE Casting Criticisms, Preparation For Batman Role And More

Speaking with Entertainment Weeklywhile promoting his new movie Gone Girl, Ben Affleck discussed playing the Dark Knight in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Of course, he remained mum on specific details, but he had this to say about preparing for the role of perhaps the greatest comic book character of all time. "I’m right in the middle of shooting now. It’s a process that I’ll probably have better perspective on when I’m done. I can tell you that every time I do a role, it’s the responsibility of an actor to get their physical self as close to the role as possible. And Batman’s obviously got a set of expectations that are tough. So I spent a lot of time working out. And it’s a far cry from Gone Girl where my character is described as “puffy and hungover.” I want you to know I worked equally hard at both!" Affleck's comments about being physically suited for a role are substantiated by the actor's particularly muscular physique, making him look even more like the…

Breaking: AQUAMAN Movie In Development At Warner Bros.; Two Screenwriters Hired To Pen Separate Scripts

Last week, Warner Bros. announced release dates for nine DC films, spanning from 2016 to 2020. Of course, there has been much speculation over what exactly these movies are - Shazam and Justice League are almost definitely going to be two of them. And now, it looks like we can throw an Aquaman movieinto the mix.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, screenwriters Will Beall (Gangster Squad) and Kurt Johnstad (300: Rise of an Empire) are set to pen two separate scripts for a solo film starring the King of Atlantis, which will be among the movies that build the DC Cinematic Universe. This film is being developed on "dual tracks"; that is, the studio is writing two separate versions of the same project and will go with the better of the two. Jason Momoa is attached to play Aquaman in both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League. While the character has been the butt of superhero jokes for decades, recent iterations have made Aquaman a force to be reckoned with. An…

Jon Hamm Reveals That He Turned Down Offer To Star In GREEN LANTERN

For years, Jon Hamm has been mentioned by fans when discussing who should play certain superheroes. Superman and Batman were the most frequently named options, while the Mad Men star was also suggested for the likes of Lex Luthor and Doctor Strange. Turns out that he was offered a comic book movie role in the past, but he turned it down.

During an interview with GQ Magazine(via Contact Music), Hamm revealed that Warner Bros. pursued him to star in the 2011 Green Lantern film. A number of actors were linked to the lead role of Hal Jordan, such as Chris Pine and Bradley Cooper, before Ryan Reynolds was cast. Hamm said that he turned down this role due to his lack of interest in the comic book movie genre. "They came after me pretty hard for 'Green Lantern'. But I was like, 'Meh, that's not what I want to do.' Never say never, but these aren't the kind of movies I like to go and see. They don't make the kind of movies I like to see anymore.''

Gotham is in great danger when the government assembles a group of villains — code named the Suicide Squad — and forces them to break into Arkham Asylum to retrieve top secret information stolen by the Riddler. Things take a turn for the worse when one of the Squad members (Harley Quinn) frees the Joker, who is intent on blowing up Arkham Asylum and Gotham City. Batman must use his super hero wits and strength to thwart the wicked plans of the Joker and the Suicide Squad. Set in the world of the best-selling Batman: Arkham video game series, this action-packed film takes place between the Batman: Arkham Origins and Batman: Arkham Asylum video games.

After releasing high quality animated features for a few years, DC has seen a particularly eventful 2014. The company began a new shared universe for some of these titles with the release of Justice League: War, which was shortly followed by Son of Batman. Sequels to both films are set to release next year and will expand this world. In th…

BATMAN V SUPERMAN News Bits: Michael Uslan On Batfleck, Zack Snyder Defends Aquaman, Harry Lennix Speaks

This news round-up for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice starts off with an executive producer on the film seemingly debunking a recent rumor. Speaking with App, longtime Batman EP Michael Uslan talked about the highly discussed casting of Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight. Comparing the controversy to initial reactions to Heath Ledger being cast as Joker and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Uslan says that all the complaints about Affleck's Batman will look silly once we actually see him in action. He also seemingly reveals Bruce Wayne's age in Dawn of Justice. "So, this has happened time and again, and it happened with Affleck. To go back to the original thought of Bruce Wayne in his mid-40s, I think he’s going to be extraordinary." A recent rumor suggested that Batman will be in his 50s in this movie, but if Uslan's comments are anything to go on, then it looks like that was false. Warner Bros. Expected To Reveal "Some" DC Films Later This Month

Warner Bros. made some exciting advancements towards expanding the DC Movie Universe this week. Not only was Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's release date moved up six weeks, but the studio also announced dates for nine other DC adaptations from 2016 to 2020. Of course, WB hasn't confirmed what these films are exactly, but a new report suggests that we will learn some of these titles by the end of the month.

Speaking with Entertainment Weeklyfor a feature covering Batman v Superman's move to March 2016, Dan Fellman, WB president of domestic distribution, revealed that "some" of the new DC movies will be announced later this month. It is speculated that the announcements will at least include Shazam and Justice League.
