Possible Details On BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE’s Lex Luthor And LexCorp; Holly Hunter And Tao Okamato’s Characters Revealed?

Jesse Eisenberg finally began filming his scenes as Lex Luthor for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice recently, and we now have details on his character’s appearance. A source for Batman-News answers the question everyone was asking: Is Eisenberg’s Luthor bald? And, according to the site’s source, he is not. In fact, he has a “lot of hair”, which is described as “a bit longer, kind of loose and wavy, and it’s dirty blonde. Eisenberg’s Luthor has spastic mannerisms, like a 20-something guy that pounds energy drinks all day.” Batman-News adds that these scenes occur around the beginning of the film, so it’s very possible that Luthor will go bald later on.

The site has also heard that the interior of LexCorp contains a basketball court in the lobby, with a 30 foot neon LexCorp industries sign. Finally, the source reveals that actress Holly Hunter is playing a United States senator in Dawn of Justice. She was previously rumored to be playing a Leslie Thompkins-type character. This new report lines up with Warner Bros.’ prior announcement that Hunter is playing an original character, rather than a character created in the comics.

Meanwhile, ComicBook.com weighs in with its own report. According to that site’s sources, Tao Okamato is playing Luthor’s assistant, “Mercy”. Of course, this brings to mind Mercy Graves, who made her debut in Superman: The Animated Series, and is later depicted as an Amazon in the comics. Like Hunter, Okamato was said to be playing an original character, so perhaps The Wolverine actress is portraying an entirely new role based on the character. ComicBook.com also affirms Hunter’s presence as a US senator, and adds that at one point in the film, she “is visiting LexCorp with a congressman (played by an as of yet unidentified actor). In one scene, Lex has an interaction with the congressman, where Lex seems “to embarrass or be very disrespectful to the congressmen on his way out.””

As for Lex’s portrayal in Batman v. Superman, ComicBook.com’s source states that he will be a very unlikable character. “You are going to hate this guy. You are going to root for him to be punched by Supes when he weasels his way out of legal trouble. He is cocky and confident because he is THAT good at what he does. He’s a billionaire who knows he is more powerful than the Senator and Congressman visiting because he’s a billionaire.” Finally, LexCorp’s security is said to be high in variety, ranging from mall cop level to SWAT. “This is a high tech mega billion company with a shiny veneer. It’s Apple/Google, colorful and consumer friendly public image but serious potential for Lex’s deviousness,” says the source.

While fans will undoubtedly be up in arms over Lex Luthor having hair, it sounds like the depiction of the actual character will be spot on. In my opinion, that is ultimately what matters. For example, The Dark Knight Rises‘ version of Bane looked pretty much nothing like the comic version, but the character himself is not unlike the original. Plus, Lex will likely go bald at some point anyways, so complaining about him having hair right now is rather pointless. Hopefully, we’ll get a look at Eisenberg’s Luthor sooner than later.
